Before you can use a SQL Server data repository, you must connect to it in Enterprise Architect. To connect to your SQL Server data repository in Enterprise Architect, follow the steps below:
- In the Open Project dialog, select the Connect to Server checkbox.
- Click on the [...] (Browse) button, as you normally would to browse for a project. As you have selected the Connect to Server checkbox, the Data Link Properties dialog displays instead of the Select Enterprise Architect Project to Open dialog.

- Select Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server from the list.
- Click on the Next>> button. The Connection tab displays.

- Type in the server details, including Server Name, User Name and Password.
- Click on the Select the database on the serveroption and on the drop-down arrow. From the list, select the model to connect to.
- Click on the Test Connection button to confirm that the details are correct.
- If the test succeeds, click on the OK button. If the test does not succeed, revise your settings.
- When you click on the OK button, the Connection Name dialog displays.

- In the Name field, type a suitable name for the connection so that you can recognize it in the Recently Opened Projects list on the Open Project dialog.
- Click on the OK button to complete the configuration.
