Suggestions and Requests / Re: Linked Documents in Project Browser
« on: October 30, 2008, 12:35:06 am »
Well, the workaround I have found for this was to write a macro for Word that generates a report on the elements that have a linked document attached to it.
This macro makes use of GetLinkedDocument() method, and checks the size of the returned string, for all the elements in a traversed tree.
However, I sure would like to see something as an indicator in the Project Browser. Maybe something similar to the "Namespace root" indication.

General Board / Re: Removing Protected Text

Hi, Sean

Usually this error happens when you are trying to remove some of the sections (the yellow-marked text in the template). You can remove them by unchecking the respective element in the window "Sections" (usually located at left of the main window of the designer), where you define which elements are included in your report.

Well, you can always export them all (through Export Reference Data) and import back in the new project.

Hi

It seems it is not possible to create a system template. From the User's Manual (version March 06, 2012), page 2235, section 18.1.2.1, the System Templates are predefined.

You are able, however, to create another (model) template derived from any of them.

General Board / Re: Questions on RTF Reporting

Hi, Dermot

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I was afraid of that. I developed a Word Macro to create the cross-references, but still had the hope to do that automatically within EA.

Regarding to page numbering format, it seems that, when a template is imported into EA from a RTF file, the RTF Editor preserves the formatting. The problem is that I did a lot of modifications in the template (as was expected, once the element fields must be included), and really don't intend to import it again. Well, I'll try something with exporting to RTF and re-import it back, as the XML exported does not allow the edition of the template itself - all the template is coded.

Well, anyway, thanks again

General Board / Questions on RTF Reporting
« on: October 04, 2012, 02:18:15 am »
Hi all

I am facing some difficulties in RTF reporting that seem to be very stupid, but I have not been able to overcome:
1. How do I change the format of the Page Number (for instance, to arabic)
2. How do I create cross-references to diagrams so that they can be converted to "Figure 1", "Figure 2", etc. in the final document when referred through the document?

Would someone have a clue?

Thanks in advance

General Board / Re: How to search for Initial Code value?
« on: April 02, 2009, 11:39:41 pm »
Well... one year and a half later, I redo the question:

- Is it possible to search for a word in the "Initial Code" field through the Model search not using SQL?
- And also: is it possible to search for a word in a Linked Document also not using SQL?

I am afraid the answers to these questions are still "No", and I sure don't have anything against SQL... the problem is that I wanted to add these searches to the 'Extended' predefined search profile, and did not want to code all this search in SQL.

Would anybody have a clue to do this?

Thanks in advance

Hi, people

I have not tested EA 7.1 much. However, I have a question regarding to the text formatting in notes: how will the users of earlier versions see the formatted notes in a repository edited by EA 7.1? If a user of an earlier EA version edits the notes, will the formatting be lost?

I ask this because our environment uses different versions and we always have this kind of problem.

Thanks a lot

General Board / Relationship Matrix  embedded in rtf reports
« on: November 12, 2007, 07:38:19 am »
Hi guys

Is it possible to embed a relationship matrix in an RTF Report? I want to print an RTF report of a package which would have, as the content of a chapter, a relationship matrix.
I have tried some weird approaches, like:
- Insert a linked document with a picture of the matrix.
- Insert a linked document with a matrix got from an RTF document created from the csv.

Does anybody know of a more intelligent way to do this?

Thanks a lot

General Board / Re: Tabular interface for requirements?

Fellows

With respect to the RTF notes, I tend to think this is only important if you are exporting documentation and want it well-formatted.
In this case, I think that the "Linked documents" and "Document Artifacts" could solve the problem with some advantages.

Am I being too simplistic?

OK

I think this is really a good enhancement. It helps a lot when registering features and requirements.

Thanks, guys

Well...

If you click with the right button over the parent package of the requirements, there will be the option "Show Element List". With this interface it seems to be possible to edit and insert elements, in this case, requirements.
is this the "Tabular interface to enter requirements"? I was thinking of something like the SysML Requirements table.

I don't if this is the answer, a way to the answer or yet another confusion ingredient to this doubt....

???

Thanks

General Board / Tabular interface for requirements?
« on: August 28, 2007, 04:55:33 am »
Hi

I found this text in a press link inside Sparx Site:

"Users may now quickly enter requirements and edit lists of elements in a new tabular interface or rapidly capture states and transitions in a new State Table editor."

This text is in the page at http://www.sparxsystems.com/press/articles/ea70.html

I could not find this "new tabular interface" to enter requirements. Does anybody know how can it be accessed?

Thanks in advance

Hi all

I could not find a way to search for bookmarked elements with the new EA 6.0 search interface.
Would any of you have a clue?

Thanks in advance.
