I think I found the problem.  So far I am not getting the error.

Solution:

When Opening the project using the wizard, choose "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" and NOT "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers"

2
I get the following error every-time I edit something - I am the only user. The project is a brand new SQL Server Database created using the 1220 scripts.

"Warning: Diagram has possibly been modified by another user."

I searched the forum and found 3 threads but no solutions.

I am using SQL Server 2014 (12.0.2254).  The only defaults I changed on the database were Recovery Mode to Simple and Auto Shrink to True.
ODBC Driver is SQL Server Native Client 11.0
Database and ODBC name has an underscore in it, problem?  "EA_EGC"

EA Version 13.0.1307
License is Corporate

I tried to import a large amount of Delphi source code and EA failed to import any units that contained generics or anonymous methods.

Is there anything I can do to import my source code, or am I just out of luck since generics do not seem to have a place in UML?

Bugs and Issues / Imported View has Top part missing
« on: December 04, 2016, 05:41:24 am »
Anyone else having this issue?  I am using SQL Server 2005 and imported a database and some imported views have a few first lines missing.  Others imported ok.

Example

SQL Server Correct Definition
Code: [Select]
ALTER view [dbo].[vHE_NextFilesToSend]
as
with Loaded as
(
  select
    distinct
    [Partner],
    DepositDate
  from
    HealthEquity_DeductionFile
),
NotSent as (
  select
    L.*
  from
    Loaded L
  where
    (not exists (
      select
        *
      from
        HealthEquity_Log X
      where
        (X.[Partner] = L.[Partner])
        and (X.DepositDate = L.DepositDate)
    ))
)
select
  [Partner],
  Min(DepositDate) as DepositDate
from
  NotSent
group by
  [Partner]

EA Imported Definition
Code: [Select]
CREATE VIEW [dbo].[vHE_NextFilesToSend] AS
(
  select
    L.*
  from
    Loaded L
  where
    (not exists (
      select
        *
      from
        HealthEquity_Log X
      where
        (X.[Partner] = L.[Partner])
        and (X.DepositDate = L.DepositDate)
    ))
)
select
  [Partner],
  Min(DepositDate) as DepositDate
from
  NotSent
group by
  [Partner]

Here are the tables if you want to test this

[HealthEquity_Log]
Code: [Select]
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[HealthEquity_Log](
[ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[Partner] [varchar](50) NULL,
[DepositDate] [datetime] NULL,
[ts] [datetime] NULL DEFAULT (getdate())
) ON [PRIMARY]

[HealthEquity_DeductionFile]
Code: [Select]
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[HealthEquity_DeductionFile](
[ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[Partner] [varchar](50) NOT NULL,
[SS_Alpha] [varchar](11) NOT NULL,
[DepositDate] [datetime] NOT NULL,
[ContributionType] [varchar](2) NOT NULL,
[clientId] [varchar](50) NULL,
[VoucherId] [varchar](50) NULL,
[Amount] [decimal](18, 2) NULL,
[MemberFirstName] [varchar](50) NULL,
[MemberLastName] [varchar](50) NULL,
[EmployeeId] [varchar](50) NULL,
[ts] [datetime] NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_HealthEquity_DeductionFile_ts]  DEFAULT (getdate()),
 CONSTRAINT [PK__HealthEquity_Ded__01142BA1] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
(
[Partner] ASC,
[SS_Alpha] ASC,
[DepositDate] ASC,
[ContributionType] ASC
)WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY]
) ON [PRIMARY]

When develop stored procedures, views, functions in SQL Management studio I am able to execute and test and so on.  Is this possible in EA such that I do not have to touch SQL Management studio.  I like the idea of editing functions straight from the diagram because it helps me keep track of things and keep my eye on the high level.  I wish it were possible, maybe it is?

General Board / MDA WSDL Transformation to DDL makes Class data types
« on: September 13, 2016, 05:03:05 am »
The below table was created by EA from a WSDL.  Note the "PostalAddress" type.  What can I do?

CREATE TABLE [Addressinfo]
(
   [Altaddress] PostalAddress NULL,
   [Checksum] string NULL,
   [Homeaddress] PostalAddress NULL,
   [Homegeocode] string NULL,
   [W2address] PostalAddress NULL,
   [AddressinfoID] Integer NOT NULL
)

Uml Process / Modeling shared sequences in Communication Diagram?
« on: July 03, 2016, 02:57:29 am »
How can I model this communication sequence without duplicating flows.

I have a WINDOW, APPLICATION, and MANAGER.

1)
When the APPLICATION shuts down then it calls WINDOW.Destroy. (This is out of my hands)
When the WINDOW is destroyed, it calls MANAGER.RemoveWindow

2)
When a WINDOW is closed by user (Window is not destroyed), the WINDOW sends a message to MANAGER.DeactivateWindow.
When MANAGER.DeactivateWindow sees that all windows are closed then it calls WINDOW.Destroy.

Thus the problem, APPLICATION.Shutdown and MANAGER.DeactivateWindow both call WINDOW.Destroy but WINDOW Destroy only has one message to MANAGER.RemoveWindow.

I need to see all possible paths that can destroy a window.  Do I have to create 2 identical messages going from WINDOW.Destroy to MANAGER.RemoveWindow, or is there a way that WINDOW.Destroy can simply display all sequences automatically?

This problem exists in any software system, such as change notifications.  In general, multiple in but 1 out.  I still want to see all the possible paths but I don't want to have go and duplicate everything when one more sequence is added.  It is unmanageable.

Suggestions and Requests / Re: Replacement for Case Complete
« on: November 21, 2015, 11:54:23 pm »
I am unsure how to answer your question.

Use cases are primarily text, not diagrams.  EA only has diagrams.

As for where and how they should be added, that is a decision of sparxsystems but I think it could be its own module like the Database Modeler is.

Add Use cases (not just the UML) to replace the need for CaseComplete. (http://casecomplete.com/)

Thanks!

Funny, now after comparing I think I like the 2005 look after all.

Suggestions and Requests / Look of EA6 button bars

I don't like the new rounded button bars.  It would be nice for me if I could change them to flat.

Suggestions and Requests / EA as an app builder
« on: August 22, 2005, 09:52:52 am »
I would like to build, debug, and step through code from EA.

I would like EA to be linked with Borland Delphi.  I would like to define my code in <actions> within class methods and then be able to step through the execution of that code directly in the model.  For instance, an action might have a green border around it to indicate the point of execution.

I would then be designing and writting my code from with EA.

I like this because EA makes seeing the application easier than looking at units of code.

But would it move the other EA windows also?

Suggestions and Requests / Changing Monitors
« on: April 29, 2005, 06:00:17 am »
I would like a button or some way in EA to make the app relocate to another monitor and relocate all its dialogs and windows also.

The relocation would work like this in a 2 monitor system and assuming EA is currently on monitor A:
I click button X (or hot key, or menu)
The EA window relocates to Monitor B
Each dialog or window swaps its location, meaning if it were on A then it moves to B and if it were on B then it moves to A.

Essentially, every dialoag and window, including the main EA window swaps monitors.

Thanks Simon.

I think I have a solution for both of us.

For EA to remember the position of any box relative "a" monitor, not a particular monitor.  EA decides which monitor based on the location of the main EA window.

3 examples:

1.
I move EA from monitor 2 to monitor 1.  EA responds by relocating all windows (except EA itself because you already moved it) to the "opposite" monitor.  This way, for each box on monitor 2 they would be moved to monitor 1 (it would look like they followed the main window) and all on monitor 1 would be moved to monitor 2.

2. I start up EA and immediatly move it to the other monitor.  All boxes that come up therafter would show up on the opposite monitor that they would normally show on.

3.  Suppose you had 3 monitors.  My guess is that there would simply be a swapping of monitors.  Suppose you had EA in the middle and you moved it to the monitor on the right, all content between the middle monitor and the righ monitor would be flipped.  The far left monitor would be uneffected.
