Suggestions and Requests / Diagram Pagination
« on: August 03, 2004, 04:04:49 pm »
It would be nice if the documentation functionality would divide the diagrams in a model by the page settings specified for a diagram.

In other words, diagrams that cover multiple pages are currently made into one diagram and scaled to fit a portion of the 8.5x11 page rather than make multiple pages out of the diagram.

It makes it hard to read sometimes.

Thanks

Suggestions and Requests / Actors Notes into Glossary as definitions
« on: August 03, 2004, 08:32:45 pm »
One thing that may be useful is to automatically update the project glossary from some of the entities in a diagram.

For example, it would be useful to have the Notes field of an Actor be treated as a definition in the glossary (a checkbox indicating that this is desired would be good too).
The name of the Actor and the contents of the Notes filed would automatically update and entry in the glossary.  In my own perfect world...The two would be inseperably linked.

General Board / Element List Sort
« on: January 14, 2010, 03:47:12 am »
When show level numbering is on, how do I get the element list to show the requirements in their proper order?

Current it numbers it alpha numerically w/o regard to the actual number.  For example, I have > 20 entries and this is what I see:

1.
10.
11.
12.
13.
...
19
2
20
21
etc

Anyway to sort the list so the numbers are in proper order?

Thanks

General Board / Requirements report with nested elements
« on: January 23, 2010, 03:22:46 pm »
Hi,

I'd like to generate an RTF report wherein if the requirements are nested
1
2
   2.1
   2.2

etc

Can anyone give me a few pointers on how I should do this with the Template editor?  I'm using the {requirements template} as a starting point and I've tried indenting the 'child elements' section.

It works for the first nested requirement, but then it resumes with no indentation for the next nested requirement...i.e.:

1.
2.
   2.1
2.2
2.3
3.

etc

Any ideas?

Thanks

Is there a way to get the glossary to print in the documentation?

Thanks

General Board / Moving things around is slow
« on: December 19, 2003, 03:12:29 pm »
I love this product...(ok...here it comes...)...but...moving objects around on the drawing sheet is really slow.  I have a Data Model that has a number of tables and relationships.

Is there something I can turn off that will make it speedier?  Even scrolling the diagram is slow.

I am using a 3 ghz machine with a ATI dual head card.

Ideas?

Thanks

General Board / Can't seem to upgrade older .eap file
« on: March 12, 2003, 09:23:50 pm »
I have UML document that I can't open with ea.  Last time I worked with it was just a few months ago with version 3.50, but I can't seem to get EA version 3.51.601 to open it.  It just says that the file is an incorrect version.

The help mentions an upgrade wizard in Admin->Upgrade, but there is no such menu item....HHEEELLLPPP!!!   :)

Thanks

General Board / Stetes and Specify Feature Visibility
« on: January 23, 2003, 01:33:48 pm »
The State object in a statechart diagram looks like it can actually display a fair amount of information.  So I'd like to place notes about the sate inside of it so it can be seen w/o looking at the properties.

I've placed these items as responsibilities, and would like the Specify Feature Visibility context menu item to allow their display...but it appears that it doesn't.

I realize that this may be a gross perversion of a state in the statechart ;), but it really helps to clarify what the states are when communicating with people who aren't used to seeing them.

Thanks

General Board / template functions/methods
« on: September 24, 2002, 05:44:44 pm »
Ok, here's one...

UML may not even deal with this...but I have a situation where a template function/method is needed....any support forseen for this in the future?  I don't see any way to model it currently.

General Board / stereotype <<type>> help
« on: September 13, 2002, 08:58:52 am »
This is probably a very trival question...

But how do you define a type in a class that you've stereotyped as <<type>>?

Do you make the name of the type and its definition a member?  Or is there some other accept way?  :-/

Thanks

General Board / C++ typedef
« on: August 26, 2002, 11:12:03 am »
Hi,

I am working on making a model of a subsystem that I will soon be coding.  One of the datatypes that I am using for parameters to various members is a function pointer:

int (*ipc_msg_handler)(int rcvid, ipc_msg &msg)

Instead of using this wordy datatype everywhere, I'd like to use "ipc_msg_handler".  How do I model this?  Do I create a new datatype for C++, or do I create a stereotyped class?

Thanks

General Board / This is a great product
« on: August 21, 2002, 07:55:33 am »
I'm sure many have said this, but I just have to add my own $0.02 worth.

I love this product.  It is clean, functions as I would expect and very well thought out.  Thanks for such a great product at an extremely reasonable price.

You've done a great job with it.

Sincerely,

Kevin
