General Board / Stupid Version Control Question
« on: September 28, 2017, 08:35:55 pm »
At the risk of attracting sarcastic replies about the fundamental nature of version control, I have a silly question to ask.

I wish to allow business users to have full access to Sparx to create business viewpoints etc, and I want them to be able to drag in links to library objects such as Applications, and create their own relationships to them.
However, I would also like to lock down our libraries with version control, so that only selected senior users can edit these objects.  Regular users would not have any version control facility.
I have applied Subversion, but it seems to just fully block any activity whatsoever regarding version controlled objects.  No dragging and dropping, no creating relationships etc.

Does anybody have any experience of such a contradiction in requirements, and can you suggest a way to achieve both of my objectives? i.e. security for libraries, while allowing free use of those version controlled objects in viewpoints etc.

General Board / Best Way to Record Days Of Week in Tags
« on: October 07, 2016, 01:37:14 am »
I am modelling some Archimate application interfaces (scheduled scripts) and would like to capture the days of the week that each script runs.  Presently I capture these in a CheckList, but this is insufficient for my needs because if I only select Monday to Friday then it simply shows as "Incomplete" in documentation, due to the fact that it thinks I'm trying to complete a full task checklist but Saturday & Sunday haven't been "checked off" yet.
Actually, there is a way that I have found to make the contents of the CheckList display in a report, but this is not what I'm after as it requires the report to be in a format that I can't easily copy to Excel and re-order by script run day / time.
Does anybody have any good ideas for how to do this without having to resort to having 7 tags against each script with a Yes/No for each day?

General Board / Reporting on items within checklist tagged values?
« on: July 30, 2016, 01:21:48 am »
Can anybody help me to find a way of displaying the individually ticked items within a Checklist tagged value when generating documentation?
I see in the Predefined Structured Types webpage ( it says in regard to Checklists "Whilst the element Tagged Value compartment and the Tagged Value window fields display the values 'Complete' or 'Incomplete', document and web reports will show the list of checklist items and the status of each (True for selected, False for unselected).".  However, for me this does not happen.
I have a template using the "Element.valueOf" field to display the contents of tagged values, but when I generate documentation it still just shows each Checklist as either Complete or Incomplete.
