General Board / Re: Scenarios

Any follow up on that ?

I have the same problem as Mabb: trying to make UC description all stand in one place (EA !) does not seem easy.

The way I would do it is to build up the Use Cases in EA. then export them in CVS. Write down the scenarios in a spreadsheet program. Then import back.

Then I would build up the Test Cases from my use cases and do the same.

Technical problem : I could not figure out how to select the scenarios as exported fields (in fact I always see the same basic available fields whatever the selected element types are).

Related organizational/conceptual problem : It seems a pain to maintain the use case and test case synchronized. Any idea how to do it ?

Suggestion : maybe we should also look at the XML export rather than CSV. But then what tool should we use to process them easily ?

Ok great it works. The exact element is "GUID". I did try it earlier but had in fact a problem with the CSV format I was using when importing back.

Thanks.

General Board / import/export requirements

I have exported requirements from my models in CSV and used a spreadsheet program to work them around (seems easier to me to tune up in table form).

Now, i need to be able to import them back AT THE SAME PLACE (not creating new requirements).

I could not manage to do the latter.

Any idea ?

It is at http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=suggestions;action=display;num=1049803055

Thanks for your quick reply.

Why is it not possible to update/view the diagram notes in the notes window (as it is the case for all project elements).

I have to edit the diagram properties to update/view its notes.

Could Mark Myers export his template in rtf and add it in this thread ?

Thanks

Coming back to the solution proposed above, I does not work at all for me !!

If I specify "heading 1" for  {pkg.name} it remains as heading 1 in the whole document !  ???

The way I found to delete styles is to export the template to a rtf file. In a text editor, edit the section where the styles are defined, then re-importing it !!!

For ex. {\s6\fs24\b\cf2\cb1\ulc2 heading 1;}

But make sure they are not used in the reste of the file (try searching "s6" in my example)

Awaiting for a standard in word processing documents we will have to work with the current RTF generator.

It just took me 15 mins to generate and reformat a 40 pages requirement document. What I had to do is

- rebuild the desired paragraph styles and levels
- renumber the pictures

I did not have to do that in the prior version. Does anybody know better ?

Ooops !

I should have proofread my entry. As stated on the page I mentioned

"the unrelated OpenDocument file format (formally known as the OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications and usually abbreviated ODF) is sometimes mistakenly abbreviated to "OpenDoc", but this is an informal and coincidental abbreviation."

I meant OpenDocument file format of course !

Well, well, complying about rtf and word does not really help us right now.

My problem is still that it worked fine (that is I could produce a nice document in a few clicks) with the old generator in EA 5 and cannot anymore...

For the future, we could advise EA to produce Opendoc format http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDoc and hope future versions of word will be able to read it.

I myself managed to produce quickly and easily rtf documents with the old generator. I run into many problems with the new one.

I have the same problems as stated here (heading levels) and some strange behaviour which my come from my not understanding the way the new template editor/generator works.

Can anybody help ond the heading levels and more generally in generating a nice report !

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Sharing documentation templates
« on: February 05, 2004, 06:16:47 am »
Being new to EA I am looking to personalize documentation to be produced.

It might be nice however to share existing templates from others.

Would you have templates to share ?

Any other suggestions regarding templates or documentation production in EA ?

Thanks
