Archi fully supports it.  As do many, many, many others.  Why not Sparx?

General Board / Re: Template Fragment - Did I miss something?
« on: July 02, 2014, 10:35:44 pm »
Thanks Simon!  As mentioned above, I selected "Fragment" from the type dropdown, but I still cannot add a custom query to my 'fragment' (see original post).

BTW, select Help in v11.x and search on Fragment.  You get the same "help" as online.

General Board / Template Fragment - Did I miss something?
« on: July 02, 2014, 07:15:48 am »
All of the online help, and even the help from within v11 says (when creating a template fragment) to check the box "Mark as template fragment".  But I have no such box.  I've followed the instructions to the letter...I have no checkbox in v11.

so, I click on the fragments folder, click new, and it says document type is a fragment.   Fine.  I create a document.  But I cannot add a custom query to this document, it says "Custom queries are only available in template fragments".   :o

I've used EA since v7.x.  So please, tell me, what am I doing wrong, and where can I find CURRENT v11 INSTRUCTIONS?   >:(

thanks in advance...

General Board / Assign Resource(s) to multiple elements
« on: March 19, 2014, 04:21:05 am »
I have a model with about 200 Use Cases in it that I would like to assign resources too.  Is there a way to assign a resource and date range to multiple elements?  Or do I really need to do this one use case at a time?

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

General Board / RTF Template and Tagged Notes
« on: December 13, 2013, 07:53:48 am »
I have found plenty of documentation on getting Tagged Values into RTF templates, but I cannot find any information on how to get Tagged Notes data into an RTF template.

Yes, I can spit out ALL of the data from ALL of the Notes type of tagged values for each element, but I need to be able to get the data for a specific Tagged Note of an element.

How do I do this?

Thanks!

Works like a charm.  Thanks again!

AHA!  Linking the DO to the Element...that makes sense!

Do I need to do the ReloadDiagram?  I'm currently doing:  diagram.DiagramObjects.Refresh() and diagram.Update()?

which is the 'more preferred' method or is there a reason for one or the other?

Thanks qwerty!  glad I could give you another opportunity to plug yer book!   ;)

I'm creating a model (package), a package within that model, a diagram within that package and elements within THAT package all with my C# based add-in.  I'm obviously executing the right Updates and Refreshes.  I'm even able to get tagged values on the element, as well as create a scenario on the element and steps on the scenario.

But I cannot get the element on to the Diagram to save my life! I also can't find any (up-to-date/relevant/c# based) examples online.

When I open the .eap file after my add-in completes and open the diagram, it's blank/empty/barren of all elements.

So what is the process?

hmm.  Was hoping for a Sparx reference/answer, not a product plug.   :-/

thanks!

your query:  "SELECT * FROM t_xref WHERE Type = 'reference'

Where can I find a list of the "types"?

One last question:  where can I find information on the other "Types" I could query?

What is that in C#?  I cannot locate it in the object library.

We're working on a proof of concept.  This methodology may not stick, just testing out different scenarios, etc. etc.

THANKS!

That is correct.  Your association connection is what is showing in the list, not a reference connection.  Create a context reference per the documentation posted above without drawing a connector, the reference will show under "references" for the element, but there is no connector...connection.

I've tested this a variety of ways, most notably, listing out the connecters for an element and the reference elements are not listed, even on the referenced item.

Hence...why I'm posting my question.   :-/

Sure.  You can find it in the Sparx help documentation by searching for context references.

But I've pulled that for you here:  http://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/10/modeling_basics/set_up_scenario_specification.html

at the bottom of the page you'll find a link for the Context References tab.

here's how to create a custom reference (context reference) between elements:  http://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/9.0/modeling_basics/crossreferences.html

qwerty, I find it hard to believe you've written books on Sparx and don't know what a context reference is dude...just saying.   :o  but I appreciate your help nonetheless...
