General Board / Re: HTML generation problem?
« on: May 23, 2002, 06:54:34 am »
Hello,

The incorrect path problem has been fixed in the latest release (490), and we look at the double quote problem in the next week.  Thanks for the feedback.

Hello,

Tjerk, we have made a fix for this in the next build which is due out tomorrow 7th May.

By the sounds of your description Chana, it sounds like a problem we fixed last week in development (it will also be included in tomorrow's release).  It was a problem with the attribute screen's first tab not responding to mouse or keyboard actions, until you clicked on another tab, then the screen operates as normal.

Hope this helps.

General Board / Re: tagged values on class attributes
« on: May 04, 2002, 06:04:18 am »
Hello,

If you would like to suggest how you would like to see tagged values displayed/represented, we will take your suggestion under advisement.  The main reason why EA does not generate tagged values in RTF documentation, is that we have been unable to think of a way to display this information in an accurate and professional manner.

Hello,

It took a while but we managed to reproduce the problem, we have corrected the problem and the fix will be included in the next build (> 485).  Thanks for pointing this out.

Hello,

We have not had any other users report this problem and I really can't see why this would happen.  When the project browser disappears is it caused by anything?  Could it be the fact the browser has just been resized to a very narrow width?  Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

General Board / Re: EA for Linux/ unix
« on: April 30, 2002, 12:10:02 am »
Hello,

Currently EA is only available on the Windows platform and since adding support for Linux/unix would require major changes to the application we don't have any immediate plans to support these platforms.

As for the WINE solution we are unfamiliar with the product or what is required.  If someone with experience of WINE wants to suggest what is required, we may be willing to investigate, however our focus need to remain on the Windows version.  Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

General Board / Re: Import into Rose - how?
« on: April 09, 2002, 07:11:56 am »
Hello,

You actually need to use the Unisys XMI add-in (which is available from the Rational Website) to be able to perform import/export of UML model elements using the XMI 1.1/UML1.3 protocol to and from Rose.

Note: Make sure you check the Use Rose/Unisys format box when doing an export from EA.

Warning: This is not a perfect process and because diagrams are not 'officially' supported in the XMI spec, the appearance of diagram's will not always by the same in either tool.

Hello,

I think the easiest way to resolve this problem is for you to zip up a copy of the project (.eap) and send it to us at support@sparxsystems.com.au .  From this we will be able to determine what object is causing the problem and advise what can be done to fix the error.

General Board / Re: Creating a Design Master
« on: April 18, 2002, 06:28:38 pm »
Hello,

The problem that you are describing sounds like it is caused by an incompatiblity between the versions of MSAccess that EA distributes and the version you have installed.  By default EA project files are Access97 databases, since you have Access2002 installed, when EA calls Jet to create the design master it expects an Access2002 database.  To overcome this you will need to manually open the EA project with Access2002 and upgrade the project to the new 2002 structure.  Then in EA's Local Option screen you will need to enable Jet 4.0, from main menu View->Options then make sure the 'Use JET 4.0 data access' checkbox is ticked.  Now retry the create design master process, we have just followed the same process and it was successful.  However we did find an additional problem when trying to synchronize a replica and design master, a fix for this will be included in the next build which should be out early next week.

Hope this helps.

General Board / Re: ODBC problem running EA
« on: April 18, 2002, 04:52:51 pm »
Hello,

The easiest way to reinstall the latest ODBC drivers is install MDAC, which is available from the microsoft download website  http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm .  At a minimum you will need RTM (runtime) version of the install files.  Try and get the latest version for your operating system.

Hope this helps.

General Board / Re: Printing Individual Use Cases
« on: April 12, 2002, 08:00:31 am »
Hello,

At the moment we don't have any plans to implement a print button, however we will make a note of your request and see what we can include in a future version of EA.  Thanks for your feedback.

General Board / Re: RTF in database
« on: April 11, 2002, 06:57:57 am »
Hello,

Your observations are correct the values in the t_rtf table do not relate to the RTF generated by EA.  This table was originally going to be used for the reason you have outlined, however early on in EA's lifecycle it became aware to us that it was going to be very hard to keep them up-to-date while they were contained in the table.   Since then we have made other uses of the 't_rtf' table, it now stores a variety of data.

We do plan to implement a more customizable document generator in the future, however at this stage we have not decided on the format, whether RTF or XML/XSLT or etc.

At the moment if you require a document of strict format then your only option is to write something that will convert the XMI generated from EA into a word document.  This can be achieved using Word and VBA, the help file has more details on this (see 'The Automation Interface'  topic).

Hope this answers your questions.

General Board / Re: Removing not approved elements from RTF

Hello,

We will look at including a filter on status in RTF generation in a future version of EA, thanks for the suggestion.

General Board / Re: Moving requirements arround
« on: April 06, 2002, 05:22:30 am »
Hello,

There is no easy way to make an external requirement internal, short of copying the text from the external requirement and creating a new internal one with the same details and then deleting the external one (or deleting the link).  Hope this answers your question.

General Board / Re: Databases
« on: April 06, 2002, 05:11:52 am »
Hello,

1.  I have made a note of this and the next time we make changes to EA in this area, we will include an option to do this.

2. If you switch databases the columns will retain their existing datatypes, however these maybe invalid in the new database and the invalid one will need to be manually corrected.

3. Over time we have added more options to the DDL generation screen, however what in particular do you find missing?  Originally a textbox was choosen so that a user could enter any database name, not just the ones that have datatypes defined.  However this could be changd to a combobox that allows the user to type their own value.

4. Currently there is no way to achieve this, however we see what can be added to a future version.

5. Yes that is right, current the import and generation of indexes, stored procedures and triggers are not support by EA.  However these features are on our list to add into EA in the future.  At this stage there is no fixed release date, but we would hope that they would be included in the next few months.
