I have created two SysML Blocks with both a port which I connected to each other in the IBD of the 'SuperBlock'. Both Blocks contains a State Machine.
Now what I am trying to accoplish is to call a operation of the other block using the port, I would like to do this from my State Machine.

1. How to instantiate Blocks
2. How to (auto) start the State Machines within the instances
3. How to communicate between blocks (using operations)

I hope you guys/girls can help me!

kind regards,

Bugs and Issues / Re: EA is slow since using Ports
« on: September 09, 2015, 10:21:16 pm »

Guys thanks for your replays!

I use version 12.0.1211 of Enterprise Architect. EA becomes slow when I work with diagrams that contains ports. When my colleague and me are working within the same respository at the same time and I use diagrams with ports and he doen't, my application is very slow and his is working perfectly.
So if you know any tricks that I can do to make manual diagramming faster it would me very welcome, till that time I'll experimenting with auto diagramming.

Bugs and Issues / EA is slow since using Ports

Since a while we use Enterprise Architect with the SysML pluging for the modelling of tunnel installations. Untill a couple of weeks ago it worked very well but since we began start using Ports the model (only the diagrams which shows de blocks with the ports) is becoming very slow.

So do you have any idea what this could be and how to fix it.

Hi /Uffe,

Thanks for your replay! Saidly it isn't the answer I hoped it would be but at least now I know that I have to change my plans in stead of keep on trying to fix it.

Thanks again ;D

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Default appearance script
« on: August 31, 2015, 06:43:07 pm »

Last weeks I am full into scripting, so that's why I have all those questions ;)

Elements in the model which we created in the last period uses colors to show the status. As you know colors are not the best way to deal with information so this is why we want to convert the colors to tagged values.

Because there isn't a method getAppearance() in the element class I tried to get the colors (style) of all the diagramObjects belonging to the element. This worked but the result is that I only know the diagram appearance and not the 'default' appearance.

So my question is how I can get the default appearance of an element with a script.

Ahh @#!^&@#, it was a typo indeed.  :(

Guys thanks for the replays, next time I will have a more valid question!

Have a nice weekend!

Hi qwerty,

Within the Tag Values Window you can go to the 'Default Tagged Value Types' here you can view and edit tagged value types. This tagged value type is what I meant with predefined tagged values (sorry for my wrong definition).
In my case I created a tagged value type with an enum so it appears as a drop down in my tag values window. Now I would like to add this Tagged Value Type to multiple elements by using JScript.

I hope this explanation will make things clear ::)

I try to add a tagged value to elements which satisfies some conditions. The tagged value I want to add is a predefined tag which allows me to use a dropdown.

Within my Jscript I am able to add a tagged value to the element but when I use the name of the predefined tag and the default value of the predefined tag as value I will get a normal tagged value.

So the question is, how to add predefined values to an element via scripting.

kind regards,

Again thanks for your replay!

I think I wait for the hybrid solution and in the meantime I'll try to generate as much as possible.

Thanks for your support!  ;D

He Geert,

Thanks for your replay!

The problem is that the diagrams ar distributed over the model, so the diagrams are owned by other packages / elements.

Do you know a solution for this problem?

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Document generator scripting
« on: August 26, 2015, 06:33:20 pm »

I would like to generate a document which presents all the diagrams that belongs to a specific element. As a solution for this I created a document template with the sections package->element. Within the element section I refer to a fragment which collects all the diagrams with a script (JScript).

So I have al the data I need but the only thing left is that I can't figure out how to show the diagramImage of the data.

If anyone can tell me how to do this I would really be helped.

Kind Regards,
