Using EA13 and eaDocX 3.9 on Windows 7 Pro.
I get this SQL Oracle error when using third party app eaDocX (eaDocX lets you create a table based on an SQL search in version 3.9) (It works fine as an EA search). Ive tried it on tiny results (two rows and hundreds of rows) - same error. Tried everything I can think of!

Bugs and Issues / Re: EA12 with Oracle repository is very slow
« on: November 17, 2016, 09:06:36 pm »
Just thought you'd like to know that we have moved from .eap file to Oracle 11g Database because Oracle was already on our estate and we had performance problems running over the WAN between regional offices (as Sparx predicted we would).

Consensus amongst our users is that performance is now much improved. Using EA12. Our next move is likely to be to V13 which suggests that it would be even quicker as it uses indexes. If we still get performance issues as we grow the user base and dataset size we are likely to use Citrix as its already on our estate.

Many thanks for these replies, they have helped me a lot.

One thing though, I am seeing that I have orphaned boundary objects; they show up in sql search results, but are not in any diagram.
I'm nor clear how these are ending up orphaned and I am not clear how to remove them from the model, other than to write a script.

General Board / How to avoid deleting boundary elements you cant 'see'
« on: September 30, 2016, 12:26:15 am »
boundary elements do not appear in the project browser we are told because they are 'diagrams-only' elements. However we are finding that listing boundaries by an sql report reveals they have both Diagram_ID and Package_ID.

I'd like to be clear how this works so that if I delete a package or a diagram I don't inadvertently delete boundaries that are children of those diagrams or packages.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

General Board / Time Series Chart - how to delete data point history?
« on: September 09, 2016, 09:03:24 pm »
I have a TimeSeriesChart element and have created the series SQL to populate the chart and tested it and all is working fine.

But now I need to remove all the 'test' results and run a data point interval for real.

I can't locate how to delete the data point historical results.

Bugs and Issues / Poor performance 4 users using shared eap file
« on: August 19, 2016, 08:41:03 pm »
At my client's site ( a very large public organisation) we are using EA v 12. We have 4 concurrent users using a shared .eap file of 58MB. The file is on a server in one building and the users  are in other buildings around the country.
Performance is really poor. If we move the database file to the same PC running the EA application it is blindingly quick, but we cant do that, we have to have a federated approach. I don't want to get into version control and separate offline package development, replication etc.

Our IT people say there is nothing wrong with the network and if it was too slow then other users of other applications in our building would also experience problems.
They tried moving the database file to another server in a different building in another part of the country and it made a marginal (anecdotal evidence) difference to two users but made it worse for the other two.

I have asked out IT for the database to be hosted on Oracle RDBMS (that is the preferred company RDBMS) but that will require some investment decisions and won't happen quickly, however I keep seeing performance issues being reported with EA 12 and Oracle hosting on the forum. The advice seems to be that oracle needs to be fine tuned for EA to work fast but I haven't seen anything about what exactly has to be fine-tuned from Sparx.

On a diagram I have 2 classes connected by an association class. I need to generate an rtf report that has a table where each row represents the association class and includes columns detailing information about each of the 2 classes that the association class connects e.g. name, stereotype, tag values etc. If the answer is 'write a script' then can you suggest what to write and also explain how I get the script output into the rtf report?
Also how would I do this recursively for all assocaition classes in a package?
