General Board / EA User Group - www.eausergroup.org
« on: March 05, 2005, 11:20:19 am »
Hello,

we have put in place an "EA User Group" website. EA users can now easily post the Add-Ins they have developed or download Add-Ins developed by others. We are also working on creating a shared database repository that the Corporate Edition users could connect to over the web and collaborate with the others.
Read-only access isavailable to everyone, in order to post or participate in the discussions, you will need to sign in. Just send an e-mail to register@eausergroup.org with your name and e-mail address and you will receive your username and password shortly.

Please have a look at http://www.eausergroup.org

Any comments, questions or suggestions are most welcome!

General Board / Weird quirk in the Manage My Locks window
« on: January 26, 2005, 02:12:19 pm »
Hi,

I have locked a package and deleted it. Immediately afterwards I went to the Manage My Locks window and the package still shows there as being locked by me.
Anybody noticed that, too?

Thanks,
Bruno

General Board / EA and PowerBuilder reverse engineering
« on: March 29, 2004, 09:55:58 pm »
Hi,

we have just released a beta version of the first generation of the tool for reverse engineering of PowerBuilder applications.
The tool will not only reverse engineer the objects and the code itself, it will also reverse engineer the User Interface, modeling each window using the Screen and GUI Elements in the EA.
Each PowerBuilder library is represented as a Package, each object in the library is reverse engineered as a class, stereotyped to indicate the PowerBuilder object type. All of the attributes, controls, events and functions are reverse engineered as well, the PowerScript code is placed into the behaviour field.
This version does NOT place the reverse engineered objects on a diagram (except for the User Interface) nor does it draw relationships between them. This feature will be added shortly.
This version has been developed and tested for PB9, it will work in many instances with earlier versions of PowerBuilder, incompatibilities are likely to be encountered when reverse engineering the User Interface. Version of the tool that supports PB7, PB8 and PB9 will be released shortly as well.

You can download the tool here:
www.standardcase.com/download/EAPB.zip

You will also need a runtime:
www.standardcase.com/download/PBCLTRT90.zip

I will apprecciate any feedback or comments as well as requests for enhancements or additions.

P.S. We are currently looking into a code generation functionality for PowerBuilder. I will keep you updated.

General Board / Oddity: Resizing of elements
« on: May 18, 2004, 10:54:46 am »
I have just noticed an odd thing, it is not really a problem, just a curiousity really: I have created an Analysis diagram, created several new Entities by placing them onto a diagram - no problem so far. Now, when I take an entity that already exists in the Project Browser and drag and drop it onto the diagram, it is about twice the size of the "normal" entity.
The same thing happens when I remove a "small" entity from the diagram and drag and drop it again - it is bigger.
I am not sure if this happens with other diagram types or element types, I have only noticed it now. It is not an issue, it is more of a funny thing. Anybody noticed it, too? I am using build 726

General Board / EA and Oracle reverse engineering
« on: April 15, 2004, 10:41:39 pm »
Hi,

we are currently finishing and testing first release of a tool for reverse engineering or Oracle database into the EA.
While EA does have support for reverse engineering of database structures, we have had a need for a tool that would take into account Oracle-specific features (e.g. Sequences, Packages) and that would perform more than reverse engineering of tables and relationships between them.
We aim at being able to reverse engineer not only the database structures themselves, but also all of the code (stored procedures, functions, packages, java objects), objects (sequences...) and dependencies between them (which stored procedures refer to which tables, columns, other procedures etc).

The first standalone version of the tool shall be released early next week and I will provide the link to it here. I would be much interested in knowing if anyone would find this functionality useful and/or if there is anything else that you would like included.

Thank you!

General Board / Conversion from EA to Rational Rose
« on: February 26, 2004, 10:50:36 am »
We currently have a pre-beta version of a tool for conversion of models from Enterprise Architect to Rational Rose.
The tool converts Packages, Use Cases, Classes and Actors. Functionality to convert the remainng objects is currently being added and shall be released shortly.
The current version of the tool serves as a proof of concept, proving that the approach we have taken is the right one. After much consideration, we have decided not to go the XMI way as the files generated/read by EA and Rose are largely incompatible.
We expect to have the full version of the tool out within a month.

The tool for conversion in the other direction, i.e. from Rose to EA, is coming shortly.

If anyone is interested and would like to help us with the testing of the tool, I would be very happy to hear from you!

Thanks,

Bruno

General Board / Project Integrity Check
« on: February 06, 2004, 03:24:16 pm »
Hi,

can somebody help me understand how do the errors found using the "Project Integrity Check" (Tools > Data Management > Data Integrity) get into the model?
And what do errors like "Invalid Attribute" mean? What renders an attribute invalid? How would it be allowed to be entered on the first place?
Maybe I am misunderstanding something, but it seems to me that this functionality should not be required - yet I occasionally find errors using it, and I have no idea where do they come from.

Thanks!

General Board / Version Control - PLEASE HELP!
« on: October 27, 2003, 02:01:27 pm »
Hi everyone,

I am trying to enable Version Control on a project in EA (build 649, Corporate Edition, security enabled) but the "Select SCC Provider" dialog is empty even though I do have PVCS properly installed. Any ideas?

Thanks!

General Board / Database repository
« on: September 30, 2003, 03:58:17 am »
Hi all,

I need to test the database repository functionality with the trial version of EA, but even though I probably can connect to a repository, I can not create one without the SQL script, which I do not have.... any ideas where can I get it?
Thanks!

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Element Issues and their status
« on: October 28, 2006, 06:25:51 am »
Hi,

is there any way to change the list of available statuses for Element Issues, Defects, Changes and Tasks from the default list (New, Verified and Complete) to anything else? Is it possible via the Automation Interface or is it possible at all?

Thank you,
Bruno

Hi,

does anyone know if the Project Discussion Forum is accessible via the Automation Interface and if so then how?

Thank you,
Bruno
