My print dialog allows me to select which pages I want to print... why not use that?

Am I the only one who likes using a Printed Manual?
I suspect not.  Anyway I would like to see the User manual broken down into printable size Documents.
They should be no more than 400-500 pages each.
Otherwise it is like using a phonebook.

Suggestions and Requests / Re: Model Glossary and Model Issues

No problem. You are right though, this could be improved.
You could also use the XML export under Tools > Export Reference data.

Hope this helps!

Hi!
Thanks, I found this option. But reports are generated not in alphabetical order and not in a table style (so, I can't sort rtf report in RTF editor afterwards).

Hi,

you can export the glossary to an RTF file, just click onthe button Export in the Glossary window.

Hope this helps!

2. Add "Save glossary in a file". Of course, I can make this during HTML report generation, but this is not very comfortable. An export in RTF format files is very useful (This feature exists in Model Issues.).

Suggestions and Requests / Re: Only showing name in table diagram.

Hi Peter,

try section "Atribute Visibility" :-)
But it sounds like I did misunderstand you after all. I thought you wanted to display only the names of tables, but now it sounds like you also want the names of all the attributes, but not their data types. Is that correct? If so then I am not sure you can do that.

Hi,

it is not really clear to me what is it that you are trying to do. Do I understand it correctly that you have a class diagram, number of tables and for each table you want to hide the attributes/columns?
If that is so, you can simply achieve that by right-clicking a class and going to menu Element Features > Specify Feature Visiility.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I see this didn't make it into 751. Any idea when (if) this fix will be made? The problem I have is that showing all the table attributes in the diagram makes a number of my diagrams too big and when they print they simply cannot be read. Just being able to show the names in a table diagram would be great.

Cheers, Peter

Suggestions and Requests / Re: Close tab on double-click

Yes, until the Microsoft truck's steering wheel is taken over by the Lotus Notes guy, and the new standard for closing a document will be double-clicking it's tab, while holding left CTRL key and pressing space key repeatedly with your right hand, but not on Thursdays...

... but I digress :-)

Ah.. yes, I'm getting old and forgetfull...
Here in Australia, where we drive on the left, we have a saying:  "Give way to the right and Trucks!" ;D

I concede to the Microsoft truck... :)

Paolo,

I do not jest, I shudder in fear!

The software maker said on Thursday it would buy the closely held Groove, a company in which Microsoft had already made an investment of $51 million. Terms of the deal, which will close in the second quarter, were not disclosed. Its founder, Ray Ozzie, a creator of IBM's Lotus Notes software, will become a Microsoft chief technology officer, focusing on communication and collaboration software, the company said.

Well, in MS OneNote for example, double-click on the tab means that I start editing the tab's (and therefore the document's) name. In EA's case that would correspond to renaming the diagram.
The very same thing happens in MS Excel too (clicking on tab will start editing the name of the worksheet) etc.

I am happy with the way EA reacts to double-clicking on the tabs (i.e. not at all :-) ), but should there be any change, I would vote for consistency with MS Office.

Except (as far as I'm aware) it's not a standard to have additional buttons on the tab controls themselves.
What I like about the UltraEdit approach is (again, as far as I'm aware) there's no standard for what double-clicking a tab control means and what they've decided to do with it seems pretty natural.  This is evidenced by the fact I keep double-clicking tab controls in other applications to close the document window!

Cheerz,
Paolo

Mike, Paolo,

I feel your pain!
And to think that Microsoft recently bought the guys that designed Lotus Notes!

Please don't do that :-)
Much for the reason you mention, that the feature really can't be seen implemented anywhere. I would much rather stick with the standards.

I use a text editor called UltraEdit.  One feature that I haven't really seen implemented elsewhere is (to me at least :D) REALLY NEAT!

When you double-click on a file tab, it closes the file! 8) 8)

Once you've tried it, you want to do it everywhere!  Perhaps because it's pretty intuitive?  In EA this could be used to automatically close the diagram and so on..

Thoughts anyone?

Suggestions and Requests / Re: Hyperlinked Model Elements
« on: May 03, 2005, 11:22:16 am »
Hi,

you can do much the same within EA already. Dragging and dropping an element onto a diagram (not onto an element) can create a hyperlink.

Hope this helps,
Bruno

I've already requested this a while back directly to Sparx but thought I'd post it here as I got no feedback before.

I put quite a lot textual description against elements in my models. Often the text refers to other model elements.

I'd like a feature that I can drag a model element onto a textual description and a hyperlink to the element is automatically created. The name of the link is the name of the element and can automatically be updated if the referenced model element changes.

Hi Alexander,

perhaps you should check your junk mail folder, the username and password has been sent right away and I can see you in the list of the users :-) I will send you another e-mail now.

Thanks,

Hi,

I think both features are there. Next time you log in, check the option "Remember me" or something alongside those lines.
If you want to see all the topics you have been posting to, simply go to your profile (by clicking on your name), at the bottom of the page there is a link that brings up all (or x newest) of your posts.

Hope this helps!

I think that the notify on a web topic is great. I receive a mail and could direct enter any comments on my last post. BUT!!! I'could not post a followup before having logged in, and then I have to search back to my topic and this is very cumbersome. I would like to have a kind of search for all topics that I have been posting to, or could be automatic logged in when I open the notification link in the mail from your web server.

Maybe a "diagram note generation template"? :-)

I'm also not so happy with the diagram note (btw. you can delete it via the diagram properties - 2nd col, 3rd mark). It would be NICE to have some kind of config and maybe it should be respected in sequence diagrams or when using auto layout, but definitely this is only a nice-to-have :)
