General Board / Re: Fields in Header/Footer in RTF documents
« on: January 31, 2012, 04:48:59 am »
Thanks for the replies but I think I was not clear in my question :(

I know how to edit header and footer but I would like to include imported fields from the model.

For instance, I want to include in the header the Package Name
I may include the Package section in the header and then insert the name field but, the section would start and end on the header and no longer be available for the rest of the document. If I include the Package section on the document body, the package section fields aren't available on header/footer.

Thanks

Is it possible to insert fields in the header or footer of RTF templates?
How?

Thanks.

Many thanks.

I've searched the registry before and found nothing about the version control settings but I've searched again and found a reference in a long, long, very long :) string value of a VCConfig key which includes the source-safe database reference.

Problem solved, thanks again.

Hello,

I can't edit an existing control version configuration, so I can't change anything about it (except the local directory).

Last time we needed to change source-safe database, I had to create a new configuration and change all packages to the new configuration. We have a lot of packages  :-/

I would like to be able to edit the existing configuration and change the source database.

General Board / How to change Source safe database
« on: March 24, 2011, 01:50:20 am »
Hello,

We are controlling versions trough MS Visual Source Safe. We had to change the SS database and we made a copy of the old one and created a new database. All files were checked-in and synchronized.

How can I change in EA Version Control (EA 8.0.864), the SS database to use.

Thanks in advanced,

Nuno

General Board / Re: Glossary - how to help needed

You may include a Glossary section in your RTF templates.

Unfortunately, I thinks there's no way to filter the glossary terms to include in the generated document as I don't see anything related with terms in the document option filters.

Hello,

You can add your own database datatypes through the Settings menu.

General Board / Re: Deleting Stereotypes
« on: November 09, 2009, 10:47:01 pm »
Same thing happens to me, in all versions and build I used for 3 years.
I'm only able to delete stereotypes never used, i.e, if a stereotype is used and afterward I remove that reference, I no longer can delete that stereotype.

Even, when I create a stereotype and I want to delete it immediately, for instance I misspelled it, sometimes I can not do it.

Other thing, if you create a stereotype with the same name of an existing one, you have problems, you're not able to delete it.

I've full administration permissions so, i don't think that's a permission issue.

General Board / Re: Using EA with Visual Sourcesafe

I'm using it a long time. No problems so far. The main question is what's your need to use VSS.

I'm just using it for access control (check-in/check-out) and backup.

I'm not using it for version control which, until now, I haven't figured out the best way of using VSS and EA to do that.  :(

General Board / Re: Question on rtf report (template)
« on: August 21, 2009, 08:43:30 pm »
You may use a master document with two documents.

In the first document template you include the package name list and in the second document template you include the package content.

General Board / Re: Oracle Designer Import?
« on: April 30, 2008, 03:28:10 am »
Bumping the topic because I'm also very interested in this question.

We have a very large project with the database model maintained through Oracle Designer.

Now we are using EA for the complete software development life-cycle and there's no need to maintain the database model in two diferent CASE tools so, we would like to migrate all Oracle Designer information to EA.

Is this possible?

Thanks.

General Board / Re: Template editor, remove protected text
« on: May 31, 2007, 03:54:08 am »
Yes, that happens in all 6.5 builds.

You can't move the tags inserted by the RTF editor after selecting a section.

If you do that, it breaks the connection between the protected tags and the section selector. Then, the only way to remove the tags is creating a new template.

Regards.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Cannot import Tables from Oracle ODBC Datasour

and it stop working.

I used to import Oracle objects nicely through ODBC import.

Now I can't, it says 'Retriving objects....' and... nothing.
It hangs and I have to reboot my PC for EA be able to connect again to server and open my project.

Same PC, same Windows, same Oracle database, same drives, diferent EA version (now build 909).

What can be wrong?

Update.

It works, I just wasn't waiting 30 minutes to retrieve the object list and 20 more to import 15 tables  >:(

Good improvement since last version. In many aspects the new versions of EA are far worse than the previous ones.

It's starting to evolve from a few functionalities working very well to lots of functionalities not working so well or not working at all.  >:(
