Bugs and Issues / Re: Multiple fragments generation in documentation
« on: February 06, 2014, 02:54:32 am »
Hello,

I would make a master document with two or more packages to reference to:
1. The first package for the project summary
    Use a package without childs
A template with a fragment template/script as you have described
2. The package(s) for your documentation
Here you don't need to use the fragment template

The first package has the only task to output the project summary.

Bugs and Issues / Re: DAO.QueryDef[3131] While executing query in .e
« on: January 10, 2014, 08:56:29 pm »
Hello,

use the macros:
#DB=ORACLE# for Oracle specific things
#DB=JET# for *.eap specific things

As I remeber right *.eap (JET/ACCESS) has problems with INNER JOINS. You may replace them by a where clause. There are some other differences. Look at the error text in dberr.txt.

Hi,

in %appdata%Sparx System\EA\dberr.txt
you see the SQL string and the original error message.

In complex queries you usually have to adopt the query to your DB (ORACLE). You can do this by a macro like #DB=SQLSVR# (only if you use different DBs).

Another possibility is to install the Oracle developer to test your query with a native tool. For complex queries this is my preferred way.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Notes / Diagram properties in "Find in project
« on: January 09, 2014, 02:31:02 am »
Hello,

create a search like:
Code: [Select]
select d.ea_guid As CLASSGUID, d.diagram_type As CLASSTYPE, d.name As Diagram, d.diagram_type As Type
from t_diagram d
where
   name like "#WC#<Search Term>#WC#" or
   notes like "#WC#<Search Term>#WC#"
order by 3,2

Bugs and Issues / Re: IBD Performance Issues
« on: September 26, 2013, 03:43:46 am »
Hello,

I tried your model and IBD with my notebook (Windows 8 and SSD).

I see no performance problems. All went smoothly. In background runs BOINIC which consumes all left CPU power.

May be I'll try it tomorrow on my working PC (Windows XT and a hard drive). I don't think there are any problems.

In my opinion this is a problem of your PC.

Hello,

I'm not aware of any performance problems (*.eap or Database).

Have you tried:
  • Tools, Data Management, Manage EAP File, Compact .EAP file
  • Tools, Data Management, Project Integrity Check

Where is the *.eap file located (local or somewhere global)?

Hi Bartek,

I'm not sure about it. I tested it with my windows 8 PC and the error occures randomly.

Hi,

I know the problem and in the forum is also a thread from me. SPARX has a bug report. There's also another thread in the forum about sporadic problems.

The issue is:
- Some PCs have a lot of 'ERROR:'
(the errors seems to come by chance, not reproducable)
- Other PCs are working with no problems
- In case of the error the Fragment Script isn't called
- Sometimes an error comes but everything works fine.
- It happens with VB and JScript (I haven't tried Javascript)

I tried a lot without success (EA 10.08).

Hi Jef,

you can't select all connectors.

You may write an addin or script to do the job.

Bugs and Issues / No return message(acknowledgement) to a bug report
« on: August 13, 2013, 05:37:16 am »
Hello,

I issued a bug report on Sunday and today. I got no acknowledgement. In the past I got an acknowledgement.

SPARX may improve their message by returning the content of the bug report. I don't want to copy each detail on my hard disk.

Bugs and Issues / Field length of return Fragment Scripts is limited
« on: August 08, 2013, 05:42:14 am »
Hello,

I used a fragment script to output *.h files in the rtf/pdf documentation.
If the *.h file is to large (around 300 lines) I get the error message 'invalid field content' or so.

I assume that the length of the returned value is restricted by count of characters or lines.

The workaround is: Make more than one fragment template to split the output in parts below of 200 lines.

Thanks,

Helmut

Bugs and Issues / Re: Ran out of memory during rtf as PDF generating

Hello Geert,

thanks. The workaround works. The drawback is that in the *.pdf file the bookmarks are missing.

Bugs and Issues / Ran out of memory during rtf as PDF generating
« on: August 07, 2013, 05:54:13 pm »
Hello,

if I generate large RTF documents as *.PDF the following happens:
  • Pop Up: Ran out of memory
  • Parts of the document are missing
  • In short no useful PDF document

The exact behavior differs from PC to PC.

It's easy to reproduce:
Try to document the whole EA example model as PDF. One PC runs out of merory. The other genereted without error message but parts of the documentation are missing in PDF.

I found the error message in the forum. No solution or workaround.

If I generate it as *.rtf it works fine.

Helmut
