Suggestions and Requests / Re: c code generation option
« on: August 15, 2004, 04:46:18 am »
Hello,

there is an open source tool, that can create c code
from UML diagrams (not from xmi files).

You can see examples of the c code, that is generated here:

http://dia2code.sourceforge.net/examples.html

I am doinig a lot of development in the way, that I create
an UML model first, and create c code of it than.
(manually).

If you want to automate this, you need to define a mapping
(which is not that difficult, but there are many possible mappings,
and it is unlikely, that one tool will fit all your needs.)

Suggestions and Requests / More than one instance of an element
« on: June 12, 2004, 06:19:32 am »
Hello,

it would be extremly useful to have the possibility to create more than one instance of:

- a subactivity
- a substate

in an activity or state diagram.

(parameterized substates or subactivities)

Thanks for you good work!

Suggestions and Requests / Embedding pictures (.jpg or .png)
« on: February 02, 2004, 05:18:52 pm »
Hallo,

for the documentation of the userinterface it would be nice to have the ability to embed pictures (.png or .jpg files) into diagrams.

Suggestion:
Add an picture object similar to the text-note object.

Suggestions and Requests / Re: bug tracker missing
« on: January 21, 2004, 07:15:11 am »
Well, I am not missing a bug tracking feature in  EA for  software that I write, but a bug-tracker for bugs in EA for us, who are using EA.

This is a feature request for the EA Website, not for EA itself.

Suggestions and Requests / bug tracker missing
« on: January 21, 2004, 12:44:54 am »
Hello,

it would be great to have a database based bug tracker for EA. This helps to keep an overview.

Suggestion:
Mantis (http://mantisbt.sourceforge.net/) is an easy-to-install php based open source bugtracker.

Free alternatives:
bugzilla (http://www.bugzilla.org/) (a little bit hard to install).
scarab (http://scarab.tigris.org/) (very many features, clean design, java based).

It could be used to keep track of feature requests, too.

I think it would help a lot, if at least registered users could have direct access to a web based bug-tracking system.

Suggestions and Requests / C Code Generation
« on: November 11, 2003, 05:54:30 pm »
Hello,

I would like to see C code generation in Enterprise Architect.
There is an open source project, that implements this feature for UML-Diagrams created with the graphic tool DIA:

http://dia2code.sourceforge.net/

The code generator is only 330 lines of C Code, so it should be possible to adapt it to EA without too much work.

Suggestions and Requests / enumerations in delphi
« on: June 26, 2003, 08:04:21 pm »
Hello,

it would help me a lot if there would be forward and reverse engeneering of enumerations for the delphi (object pascal) language.

Example:

TEventClass = (logEvent=10, logBolus, logBlackbox);

General Board / Re: Exclamation mark in front of a diagram?
« on: March 26, 2008, 01:59:24 am »
The context:
Enterprise Architect Enterprise, security enabled, SQL repository (PostgreSQL).
In front of some diagram names and folder names, not all.
If I open EAExample.eap, no exclamation marks at all.

Any idea?

General Board / Exclamation mark in front of a diagram?

What is the meaning of an exclamation mark in front of the diagram name in the project browser?
This seams to be new in EA 7.1.

General Board / Re: embedded systems workflow after EA
« on: January 08, 2008, 01:06:05 am »
We are using EA for embedded code (8 Bit MCU's).

I wrote a code generator in python, that generates C header files from EA Classes.

Writing a code generator, that generates code from state machines should be possible, too.

If you want to map object orientated constructs like inheritance to C, there are many different possible ways, and you will often need a custom code generator (the EA code generator itselfs maps classes to C modules and does not support inheritance).

There are other tools available on the market like Rhapsody, that give better support for embedded development, but they cost probably more than 5000 $, so this is a different categorie than EA.

General Board / Re: How to disable user security?
« on: December 03, 2007, 06:20:45 am »
Well, I didn't enter the security key again.
I thought, it would be needed only to enable security, and admin rights would be sufficient to disable it.

So - apart from the help file content - the only little bug is, that there is no message "wrong or missing security key" if no security key was entered and you try to disable the security system.

Well, I did make a copy from the postgres repository
to an ea file and want to disable user security there.

But how can I do that?

With which menue command?

If I click on projects -> security -> enable security...
the program asks for an authorization key, but nothing
happens (no error message or warning, just security stays
enabled).

General Board / How to disable user security?

Hello,

I have a project, that I want to give to a consultant, who has the EA reader only.

How can I disable user security in the copy that he will get, so that he can read the model?

Ok, today I got an email from sparx, that this bug is fixed.

This is nice. :)

He wrote:
"This issue has now been resolved with 825."

But where can I get EA build 825?

Well, I just would like to hear something like:

- we can reproduce the bug
- we can't reproduce it, please provide a better
 test case

Uwe
