General Board / Re: V13: Is context help box gone?

Personally I think that the ribbon interface was a terrible idea from microsoft.
I trying my best to like it in EA but my productivity is only declined...

General Board / Beta 13: Clone Element
« on: June 07, 2016, 05:30:26 am »
As a EA practicioner I was very excited to see the "Time Aware Modeling" in EA 13.
It simplify a lot the creation an maintenance of as-is vs to-be architectures.
The only aspect that I'm not sure that I like is the placement of the element (in a separate package with a trace relationship).
In the long term this means having elements all over the places, what I wonder is if a scaffolding placement would make more sense. So in a tree like structure we would see the same element in his history.
My 2 cents

General Board / Beta 13: Custom Progress Bars
« on: June 07, 2016, 04:54:28 am »
I'm experimenting with the Custom Progress Bars. It looks like a very useful feature but until now the only way in which I can activate it is by displaying all the tags of the elements (activate tag ins "feature and compartment visibility")  . Any way to display only a certain taggedValue in a diagram as a Progress Bars?
A part that I wonder if you plan to have other inline capabilities like red light, spark likes, etc

I exported the model in ECORE format using the tools 4 EA and then I generated the XMI with XPAND

General Board / Integration with Eclipse Modelling
« on: May 20, 2016, 03:47:03 am »
Hello Forum,
I'm looking for ways to integrate EA with the Eclipse Modelling and generation capability.
I'm aware of yakindu:
http://www.yakindu.com/eabridge

but for the price the functionalities are not very mature.
In the past I used Tools for EA but now is not anymore supported.
I tried
http://community.sparxsystems.com/community-resources/523-95export-your-ea-models-to-eclipse-uml
but is fails completely.
Any other suggestion or experience?
thanks

I'm also an user of EA and EPF.
what I did in the past was a prototype cartridge, generating the EPF XMI from a EA model.

I second that. We are using VS 2015 and the integration is not working.

General Board / Objects life cycle: hot to manage it? :-/
« on: February 27, 2015, 04:52:16 am »
Hello Forum,
We adopted Sparx EA in out architectural practice.
We are now in the process of creating road maps. What I wonder is how to maintain several version of the same object in time.
I assume that this is not supported out of the box, but do you have any best practice?

thanks

General Board / Web 2.0 modeler compatible with EA
« on: November 24, 2008, 04:07:17 am »
Hello,
I'm developing an application that generates a Domain Specific Language IDE with web 2.0 interface.
We call it CWM (Chronos Web Modeller)

Check it out here:
 http://cwm.nikostotz.de/demo/gui/

This is a private server: feel free to test but don't count on performance.

The CWM aims is to create a model that is further used to generate documents and code.

We test (and support) Firefox only. A stable release will support all the major browser. Right now we are in an advanced alpha stadium.

We are developing the CWM with simplicity in mind.
Especially for the gathering of Requirements and use cases a complete modeling tool like EA can be an over kill for the typical “normal” client. A web client, near zero installation feature, allows more users to works with the same model contemporaneously.

After then this can be exported back to EA.
Some Background
The Chronos metamodel is used as basis to describes an IT project.
In Chronos a Goal -is specified by--> Requirement ---is realized by a---> Feature---is detailed by a-> Use Case –that instantiates a-> Domain object.

Because this structure is generated rather that hard coded, if you have a project specific need, all you must do it to change the UML model
see below:

changing this model you completely change the applications objects.

Front end and backend are completely separated and communicate with JSON. Additionally also a SOAP interface is generated: see http://cwm.nikostotz.de/demo/application/soap.php for the generated API specification.

We are using EXTJS (http://extjs.com) and Draw2d (http://draw2d.org/draw2d/) as frameworks for the Java Script client and wCMF (http://wcmf.sourceforge.net/) for the PHP backend.

SPARX EnterpriseArchitect is used to model the UML while the generator is openArchitectureWare (openArchitectureWare.org ).
The generated Model can be exported in XMI (rational rose compatible).

The CWM is released under the Eclipse Common Licence and his source is available on the Project on sourceForge:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/olympos/

Submit your bugs here:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=198381&atid=965248

as you can see some of them are already  know.

if you have a feature request tell us!

General Board / Re: Importing PHP procedural files
« on: December 04, 2007, 06:37:07 am »
Reverse eng. is the point.
I wonder why it is working for procedural C and not for procedural php.

It is possible to modify the Reverse eng. imports?

General Board / Importing PHP procedural files
« on: December 04, 2007, 01:56:37 am »
I'm looking for importing with code engineering large PHP procedural files (no classes) in EA.
While I had good results with C (a class is created for every file) with PHP I get no file import.

Do you have any suggestion?

General Board / linking original code to HTML report
« on: December 04, 2007, 07:01:33 am »
I have imported in EA over 1500 classes and created a html report for this.
Now I look for a way to integrate the original code in the generated report.
the idea is that my customer can mimic what I can do inside EA when I press F12: seeing the original code.

General Board / Re: Stereotypes, Profiles & graphics
« on: February 22, 2007, 12:35:28 am »
Thanks you KP!
this is exactly what i have looked for!
A shame that this is not documented.
Now, can I export the shape in a UML profile?
AFIK the system works only if you first import an image on the image manager, right?
so no chance to export as profile...
any clue?

Thanks for your answer.
Shape script permit to create stereotypes with the icon on the top right but still I cannot display class properties and methods.
