Suggestions and Requests / Shared scenarios for the whole project
« on: January 06, 2008, 12:22:30 am »
I would like to be able to create a list of scenarios for use in the whole project. meaning I can link them through "scenarios" tab to all the elements in the project.
This way I can assure we all work on the same scenarios, it will also enable reports per scenario.

I posted regarding this in general forum, but since I got no answer I figured out there is no builted un solution for this in EA.

What about elements actually being part of (destroyed with) the containing (composite) element?

well..I guess we should also distinguish aggregation.

OK, now it makes sense, or as we say in Hebrew "it makes brain"  8)

OK, I think I got it.
A composite should have a digram of its parts, though having an attached diagram does not necessarily claim it is a composite element.
Did I get it right?

Hi Martin,

What Composite Element tries to get across is that the [  ] If you experiment with a couple of temporary elements and diagrams you should see what I mean.  Further, if you change the type of the element, you will see that the diagram remains and can be opened by double-clicking the "composite" element, but (depending on the type you've changed to) the ability to access the diagram via the menu items has disappeared.

This is an inconsistency I'm aware of and which should be fix, it seems I got so used to it I never though to report is as a bug (which it is). Yet I think it does not answer my questions, which were more conceptual.

I think I didn't quite got it...
:-[
I change an element to be composite and lets assume it is indeed only composite := if you look at project tree it has its components but no diagram - how can you show content? just the plain graphic list of components?
And if it has an attach diagram why can't I just attach to it any diagram in tree? and if it has a diagram with elements in it (even element which are not under the original element in project tree) then it isn't a composite element?
How would you call such an element that if you drill into it you see how it is composed, but its parts do not belong to it?

I'm not sure you are wrong, I just don't see how this approach answers the above questions...

Suggestions and Requests / Re: Export to Doors

I have the same problem.
We are tightly linked to Doors too (which I think is also a grate tool) and being able to create requirement in EA and exporting them could be grate.

I know Doors is soposed to be the tool for requirement managment, but if I want to get the requiremets to very lo level I would have to create them in EA (where I do my use cases and analysis) and then export them.

If there was a way for it it aould be very helpfull.

I just figured out not necesarily all companies consider/program threir .h files as a single component each....but it could reflect in deployment maybe (artifacts?).

Suggestions and Requests / reverse engineering to component diagram
« on: March 13, 2005, 10:04:43 pm »
Hi
After reversing code to class diagram EA should know pretty well where diagram classes are located and therefore able to crate a minimal component diagram with the correspodant files.

This could be good for helping to locate internactions between reversed components and for any "newby' in the project.
