General Board / Baselines
« on: February 25, 2016, 02:59:34 am »
Could somebody please point in the direction of some good resources on how to manage Package Baselines?

General Board / ModelView column width
« on: February 24, 2016, 03:03:32 am »
Is it possible to change the width of the columns on a ModelView? If so, how?

Bugs and Issues / Macros work in searches but not in Model Views
« on: January 27, 2016, 12:42:33 am »
Please refer to the following thread,30190.0.html. Macros in SQL queries work fine in searches but do not work in Model Views.

I am using version 12.0.

General Board / Where is the class stereotype?
« on: January 26, 2016, 12:55:11 am »
Where is the class stereotype? Is there a class stereotype? I am just looking at a list of elements in EA with a blank stereotype when I would have expected the stereotype to be class.

General Board / Importing a Glossary
« on: October 09, 2015, 09:08:58 pm »
Other than Office MDG is there a way to import glossaries into a project or a repository?

General Board / Using custom stylesheet
« on: May 05, 2015, 11:24:34 pm »
I have created a custom stylesheet, how can I use it in a user define document template?

I cannot see it in the list of stylesheets available on my custom document template.

General Board / Document generation
« on: April 28, 2015, 06:46:24 pm »
Before I raise this as an issue, I would like to establish if it is at all possible.

Let's say I have a package, lets call it "Package 1" for this example, with a diagram, lets call it "Diagram 1" for this example, and a several classes, 5 for these example, "Class 1" to "Class 5".

I know the following code snippet (by the way {Element.Name} and {Element.Notes} are 2 cells on ta table

Code: [Select]
package >
package element >< package element
element >
{Element.Name}      {Element.Notes}
child elements >
< child elements
< element
child packages >
< child packages
< package

Is going to generate the following

Package 1

Class 1Notes for Class 1
Class 2Notes for Class 2
Class 3Notes for Class 3
Class 4Notes for Class 4
Class 5Notes for Class 5

This is good, almost what I am trying to achieve. However what I am trying to do is having a table looking like:

Class 1Notes for class Class 1
Class 2Notes for Class 2
Class 3Notes for Class 3
Class 4Notes for Class 4
Class 5Notes for Class 5

Is this possible? Making the top row on the table a Header Row does not do it. If it is possible, what have I missed?

General Board / Copying/saving a diagram to the clipboard
« on: April 14, 2015, 12:58:16 am »
If I have a diagram call foo and save it to the clipboard, when it gets pasted into another document it has a box at the top reading "class foo". Is there a way to customise this through a stereotype and make it read "SADM foo"?

General Board / Controlling casing when Database modelling
« on: April 14, 2015, 11:54:55 pm »
When creating a DB model with Oracle as the target RDBMS, EA12 capitalizes the names of most things that go in the model (except for primary keys). In an ideal world, since I am working on a logical data model, I would prefer to use camel case (or hyphens) with the first letter of each word capitalized. Is there a way of changing the default behavior to achieve this?

P.S.: Hopefully this does not involve the use of MDG technologies although I am more than happy to try it :)

General Board / Default language
« on: April 10, 2015, 01:27:26 am »
Is there a way to change the default language applied to a new Class when added to a diagram? I have changed the language of the package from Java the default to a custom language but all the classes are created with Java as the language.

Is it also possible to make a bulk change of the languages for all packages and elements within a model?

General Board / Level Numbering
« on: March 26, 2015, 08:35:29 pm »
Level numbering is a great feature what it might have a slight problem, numbers apply to elements in a package but not to the package itself.

Is there away of applying Level Numbering to the package and the elements contained?

If this is not possible who do you request a feature to be added.

This what I am after:

<<package>>1: Package A
------------<<class>>1.1: Element 1
----------------<<class>>1.1.1: Element 2
----------------<<class>>1.1.2: Element 3
------------<<class>>1.2: Element 4
<<package>>2: Package B
------------<<class>>2.1: Element 1
----------------<<class>>2.1.1: Element 2
----------------<<class>>2.1.2: Element 3
------------<<class>>2.2: Element 4
------------<<class>>2.3: Element 5
<<package>>3: Package C
------------<<class>>3.1: Element 1
----------------<<class>>3.1.1: Element 2
------------<<class>>3.2: Element 4
------------<<class>>3.3: Element 5

General Board / Mac OS X Installation
« on: April 07, 2015, 03:23:58 am »
When I downloaded EA 12, I read something which indicated it might be possible to install it on a Mac. However, I have always been under the impression that this is only possible for a dual boot Mac with Windows installed; this is because EA used/uses an Access database.

Is this the case? Or is it actually possible to install EA under OS X? If it is possible a list of steps will be much appreciated.

General Board / Customizing a project
« on: March 20, 2015, 02:18:40 am »
I would like to customize a project and add 2 "entities" similar to Requirements (under rules): one for questions and another for design assumptions. Is there a way to do this? If so guidance to get started would be much appreciated.

Please note that they don't have to appear under Rules for each class. It is possible that at least some questions could cover more than one class.

General Board / Changing the way classes are displayed
« on: March 13, 2015, 01:01:26 am »
I am using again EA12 to create a conceptual model. I have done this before but always encountered 2 aesthetic problems I would like to solve this time.

1) Is it possible to get a class to display the way it displays when attributes and operations are added but without actually adding any any attributes or operations -  i.e., like

2) On parent child classes, is it possible to stop the class from being displayed A:B:C and just displayed as C?

Bugs and Issues / Print to PDF
« on: May 28, 2015, 05:58:47 pm »
EA 12 build 1214 has a Print to PDF menu item on the File menu. I cannot remember if it was there before and was getting sligthly excited about it but I know better. There is a big problem with it: it misses quite a few diagram shapes.

Has anybody come accross this?
