Bugs and Issues / Re: UAF ERROR:"Model Template Pattern failed to load.
« on: September 14, 2018, 01:40:10 pm »
I get that message when I click the "Create Pattern(s)" button and there are no patterns selected, for example when I have selected the group name instead of the contents.

General Board / Re: Diagram alignment helper lines

Go to ribbon > Layout > Alignment and it's on the pull-down of the bottom right icon - Show smart placement guides.

General Board / Re: BizBok Value Stream model - change aspect ratio
« on: September 05, 2018, 12:16:03 pm »
It appears that the BIZBOK value stream is an extended Use Case element. Try checking the option ribbon | Start | Preferences | Objects | Allow elongated use cases.

Stereotype generalizations aren't stored in the database, they are extracted from the UML profile at runtime and held in memory. If the profile is under your control, maybe the simplest solution would be to hard code a map of generalizations in your script/addin.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Where can I find the <<navigate>> conncector?
« on: September 04, 2018, 10:49:17 am »
Currently what I do is create an associaction, and change the stereotype to EAUML:Navigate and then set the connector direction to make it show an arrow.  This process is tedious and would be simple if I could use the Navigate connector from the toolbar.

The EAUML::Navigate association doesn't appear in any toolbox. Perhaps you could look into creating your own custom toolbox. Until then, a tip to make your manual process less tedious is to switch on the ribbon|Start|Preferences|Links|Association default=source-->target option.

Bugs and Issues / Re: EA.Element.Runstate setter does not work
« on: August 30, 2018, 03:48:01 pm »
Something like:

Code: [Select]
(Go to an Object/Instance element and press Ctrl+Shift+R, then look in t_object.RunState)

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: 1 to many tag value
« on: August 29, 2018, 08:58:35 am »
You can't. However tagged value names don't have to be unique so you can have multiple single-selection tagged values. There is an option to view duplicate tags that you will need to turn on.

Create a stereotype and give it this shape script

Code: [Select]
decoration blindfold

Bugs and Issues / Re: Spurious Tagged Value types (non-enabled MDGs)

EA 14 behaves slightly differently to previous versions with regard to disabled technologies. In EA 14, the disabled technologies are still loaded into memory, but are ignored depending on context and/or perspective. This looks like a place where disabled technologies should probably be ignored but aren't. I'd say it's worth a bug report.

It's in the 14.1.1425 Beta release.

General Board / Re: Moving elements within an Interaction Diagram

Not lifeline elements, no. Except for one case: if you set Lifecycle=New for the first message that goes into a lifeline, the lifeline will drop down to the level of the message.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Notes for class attributes
« on: August 15, 2018, 08:56:02 am »
Apparently version 14.1 is bringing back the attributes dialog :)
Just downloaded V14.1 beta to see if that is true. The attributes window remains and I can't see anyway of getting to the attributes dialog so may its fake news :)

Select a class and press F9. Or right-click > Features > Attributes. Both bring up a modal Features dialog where you can create attributes with their notes. The modeless Features & Properties window remains which will need to be used in conjunction with the modeless Notes window.

General Board / Re: Aggregates connector is shown the wrong way around
« on: August 15, 2018, 08:47:31 am »
As explained many times in the past...

In UML 1, it was explicitly stated that aggregations and compositions had the diamonds at the target end. In UML 2, there is no separate metaclass for aggregations and composition; they are associations. Associations are undirected, so the diamond can go on either end.

It seems to me that the A in Project-1 is not the same A as the A in Project-2 (evidence: the A in Project-1 doesn't have a link to C). Therefore they need to be separate elements. Try creating instances of A and using those. (Ctrl+Drag A from Project Browser onto diagram and select "Instance" instead of "Link").

General Board / Re: EA14 and non-modal windows

It works in the latest release, EA 14.0.1423. Just select the DataType or Enumeration element and press F9.
