Hi Bruce,

Can you provide the contents of your SQL Search definition?

No, it's not currently possible to have nested script groups.

The reason you can't find any documentation for that is because it's not supported. The Keystore Service can only reference a single key store. Using the Keystore Manager you can create additional file-based key stores, but these can only be referenced by users by pointing directly to the sskeys.dat file via a shared network folder.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: method LoadLinkedDocument
« on: August 25, 2017, 09:59:31 am »
LoadLinkedDocument is a method of class EA.Element, not EA.Package. However each Package has a corresponding Element class. You just need to reference it via the Package.Element attribute.

myDoc = myPackage.Element.LoadLinkedDocument("d:\Profiles\bsingleton\AppData\Local\Temp\82600.tmp")

@qwerty: It's documented on the Element Class, which is linked at the bottom of the help page you referenced.

Under 64-bit operating systems, the SSJavaCOM.dll file will need to be copied into C:\Windows\SysWOW64.

In a bit of confusing Microsoft logic under 64-bit versions of Windows, the "System32" directory is for 64-bit applications, and "SysWOW64" is for 32-bit applications.

Collection.GetAt() takes an index -- not an ID.

Can you please confirm that your project has more than 32,767 root nodes?

Uffe is correct here. GetAt() takes an index, not an ID. If you want to get a specific package by it's ID, use Repository.GetPackageByID( long ).

What qwerty means is that you need to call tdo.Update() in your code to commit your changes.

Hi All,

This is a confirmed issue which is being investigated by our development team. Unfortunately the JavaScript engine used by EA currently fails to handle inherited methods for COM objects, which is what causes problems when trying to use MSXML objects to read/write xml. For example, appendChild() is not a function of IXMLDomElement, but is actually inherited from IXMLDOMNode.

We hope to fix this in a future build. No word yet regarding in which specific build this will be fixed.

General Board / Re: Creating Custom images - Need help on Process

There was an updated image library released in July, 2015. See the following links:,386.0.html

But the order it gets is wrong

What order were you expecting? Looping the DiagramObjects collection will give you a collection of all objects on the diagram, but not in any particular order. If you need them in a specific order you may need to do some further processing.

So the local installation on your own private Win10 machine is working, but the problematic installation was performed by your IT Department via "DSM", correct? Unfortunately I'm not familiar with this type of installation, but it seems likely that's at least part of your problem. Perhaps this installation method has not properly installed or registered all the prerequisite components, dlls, typelibs, etc.

Just a guess - It may be worth making sure that EA's Type Library has been registered correctly on your system. Open a Command Prompt as Administrator and then run the following commands.
CD "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sparx Systems\EA"
EA.exe /register

How is EA setup on your machine? Is it installed locally? What operating system are you running?

You mentioned "The script works fine in another environment". What other environment? Was this an installation of EA on another PC? Any differences you are aware of between these installations? What version of EA is installed? Is it the same as yours? Were they both installed the same way?

For example - if your EA was setup using the "Zero Configuration Client" method described on the following page, scripting will not work. See:
