Bugs and Issues / Re: Co-Exist EA 13 and 12.1?
« on: September 05, 2016, 04:09:07 pm »
Actually, Glassboy doesn't have much to make a big deal of, being a resident of The Island Of The Long White Cloud. (question, which island is that - North or South?) There is only one thing to be nervous of there, and that is a pink-backed version of the Australian Red-Back (and a cousin of the American Black Widow). And even then he has some big, strong Maori friends to come and squash it for him. Who needs to worry when your national team is The All Blacks? (Sorry Neil!)

Unless, of course, Helmut was tersely referring to 'inside information'.
I bravely managed to avoid any puns about 'having the guts' and 'stomaching the information'... or maybe I didn't!

  • (All elements on a diagram) Double-click on the diagram background to display the Diagram Properties dialog and, on the Elements tab, select the added checkboxes in the Show Compartments panel (are they there?)  or
  • (Single element) Right-click on the element and select the Features & Properties > Feature and Compartment Visibility option to display the Feature and Compartment Visibility dialog and again select the added checkboxes in the Show Element Compartments panel

Yes - note that KP was talking about the bug report, whereas Paolo seems to have assumed he was talking about the forum posts. Paolo's points are good for forum posts, KP's suggestion entirely logical for bug reports.

This is a users forum.

The other users on the forum might well suggest some solutions, but to address Sparx Technical Support directly (and get a response from them) you must send in either a bug report (use the link in the Support column at the foot of this page) or an email to

I have checked with Support and they have actually been working on your issue for much of today. They received your first email yesterday at 2:00 pm, the second at 3:00 pm (suggesting the problem had gone away) and the third at around mid-day today (saying the problem hadn't gone away!). The Support team are investigating as I write.

Please ignore my PM - I did not use your proper name in making my enquiries.

Is it at all possible - I had a trial period of Sparx on my desktop (12.1) and replaced it by a licenced copy (12.1), is there any way they could be corrupted because of that?

Did you delete the Trial version before you installed the Licenced version? I believe that you have to do that. However, I don't know if it would have anything to do with the problems you are facing.

Oh, I think Paolo is a little more sociable than that. If you search for Archimate and Paolo as poster, you will find the recent thread.

Uml Process / Re: Using Model Searches with the Model Views browser

In the two topics that Simon mentioned, I have added a statement that the SELECT statement is case-sensitive and should be typed as shown. I'm not sure about qwerty's comment - we do say in several places that the statement must include AS CLASSGUID and AS CLASSTYPE.

From the Notes section at the end of the Decision Table Editor Help topic:

'The Decision Tables facility is available in the Business and Software Engineering and the Ultimate editions of Enterprise Architect'

Perhaps KJI also believes that inconsistently correct systems don't exist....

Sorry, I think I got my EA and my Help mixed up.

What I meant was, within EA click on the Start Ribbon, Help panel, Help icon and select the Search Help option. Type in your search string. That search ought to find any occurrence of the text string in the entire Help system. I don't believe that is the same search mechanism as is behind the website search at the (very) top of the Sparx website page.

And if you try using the Help Search facility within the Help System, as I suggested earlier?

Bugs and Issues / Re: Diagram paste puts object at Z-order bottom
« on: July 22, 2016, 12:41:11 pm »
I tend to agree with your request, but as a back-stop you could display the Modify Z Order dialog to establish that new elements are on the diagram and to bring them forward so that you can see them and work on them. This would be a useful tool to have open even if the paste did put the new element front, top and centre.

In the Help look for Modeling Tools > Building Models > Diagrams > Diagram Context Menu, and read about the Modify Element Z Order option.
