General Board / Re: Visualizing the overall process tree
« on: October 03, 2016, 12:15:45 pm »
Perhaps you could generate a Diagrams Only report on the whole model, or the appropriate chunk of it? You won't get all the business process flow on one diagram, but you will have all the diagrams printed in one place without having - as you say - to go and open each diagram separately. You will have to make sure that your labeling and cross referencing are clear, so that you can easily follow the direct flow and the expansion into detail from diagram to diagram.

Personally, I can find loads of arguments against the validity of 'a picture is worth a thousand words', but change 'picture' to 'diagram' and I can at least (unlike Paolo) concede that complex diagrams are more self-explanatory than simple ones.

I assume that Geert submitted a feature request or support email directly to Sparx Systems, but did Polymorph do likewise? The Feature Request option can be found in the Support column at the foot of this page.

Sigh. it's awfully dark sitting here in Paolo's Book of Grudges. But I suppose that is what a black mark does for you.

To shed some light, I suspect that Paolo was operating under Windows, whilst I work in Linux. Why that should make a difference I do not know, but all the Linux users I have canvassed here also have the 'Show Tips in Status Bar' option in the Application Look dialog selected and greyed (or grayed) out. The Windows users have it available. So... the Windows users can have Tooltips displaying and multiplying in-text, whilst we Linux users stare fixedly at the Status Bar.

Indeed, not 'Paolo's quirk', though quirk it appears to be.  For now.

Sssshhhh! Don't mention Glassboy's errors. I mentioned them once, but I think I got away with it...

I stand corrected (gee, this is contagious!).
And Glassboy has one less less thing to get upset about - HIS Long White Cloud isn't the smoke from one of our famous raging bush fires.
I knew about the Australian Sociable Huntsman spider getting established in Auckland after the producers of some version of 'Arachnophobia' saw fit to throw most of the cast members out into the street, but the Redbacks are news to me. OK, you have now earned the right to run in circles with your tee-shirt over your head, screaming loudly. Go ahead.

Glassboy wrote: "Helmut seems to be a decent guy, and I'd had to think he ended up in a situation where someone laughed at him because none of us had the courtesy to point out his phonetic spelling is actually a different word."

OK, OK - let's even the score. Glassboy made a mistake too. He was going to write 'hate' but he wrote 'had' instead. Corrected, OK?

Now, Helmut, did the combined might of the forum help you solve your original problem?

I can't replicate Paolo's quirk. I'll validate Neil's comment, and say that I have tracked down one instance in the Help where we say that the meaning displays as a Tooltip. Phil, would you mind telling us where you read that information, in case it isn't the bit I have corrected?  Thanks.

Actually, Glassboy doesn't have much to make a big deal of, being a resident of The Island Of The Long White Cloud. (question, which island is that - North or South?) There is only one thing to be nervous of there, and that is a pink-backed version of the Australian Red-Back (and a cousin of the American Black Widow). And even then he has some big, strong Maori friends to come and squash it for him. Who needs to worry when your national team is The All Blacks? (Sorry Neil!)

Unless, of course, Helmut was tersely referring to 'inside information'.
I bravely managed to avoid any puns about 'having the guts' and 'stomaching the information'... or maybe I didn't!

  • (All elements on a diagram) Double-click on the diagram background to display the Diagram Properties dialog and, on the Elements tab, select the added checkboxes in the Show Compartments panel (are they there?)  or
  • (Single element) Right-click on the element and select the Features & Properties > Feature and Compartment Visibility option to display the Feature and Compartment Visibility dialog and again select the added checkboxes in the Show Element Compartments panel

Yes - note that KP was talking about the bug report, whereas Paolo seems to have assumed he was talking about the forum posts. Paolo's points are good for forum posts, KP's suggestion entirely logical for bug reports.

This is a users forum.

The other users on the forum might well suggest some solutions, but to address Sparx Technical Support directly (and get a response from them) you must send in either a bug report (use the link in the Support column at the foot of this page) or an email to
