« on: June 04, 2003, 08:29:51 am »
Could the Favorites folder in the Resource View be enhanced to create shortcuts to packages in the Project Explorer. i.e you could click a favorite package and it would do the equivilent of Locate in Browser.

Suggestions and Requests / User Rights Warnings
« on: April 10, 2003, 07:24:11 am »
When using the Corporate Edition if the user tries to do something that they don't have rights for, nothing happens. It would be better if a message was displayed to indicate this. i.e. if they can't update a diagram currently it lets them drag an element onto a diagram but when releasing the mouse nothing happens.

Suggestions and Requests / Link Models in Corporate Edition
« on: April 09, 2003, 07:34:48 am »
Could the Corporate edition be enhanced to allow packages from one model to be linked into another? Our programme here is made up out of a number of models (one for each product) but we have a requirements/system test model that needs to sit as an umbrella across all product models and allow linkage into elements in the product models.

What I would envisage is the option in the Explorer view to link (rather than create) a package which would allow the user to browse to the required package in the destination model.

Thanks. Darren.

Suggestions and Requests / Addin/Plugin Support
« on: April 09, 2003, 04:13:55 am »

I have developed a number of utility applications that automate the process of some aspects of our model creation & documentation via the automation interface.

It would be really good if EA supported some generic interfaces for pluging these applications into the EA environment e.g. ActiveX components. The kind of integration initially required would be for a plugin to extend the menu/toolbar and the pop-up context menu for the explorer view. Going on from that maybe an event interface to inform the plugin of significant activities occuring in EA.

The biggest gain for me would be the ability to hook to Explorer view context menu as most of my applications have the same code in them to locate a model, open it, and create an explorer view of their own to arrive at the relevent package or element before the real processing can begin.

Thanks. Darren.

General Board / CodeGen Specifying the File Extension
« on: August 12, 2004, 05:20:02 am »
I am creating a Custom Code Generation template for MIDL. How do I specify the file extension for the generated files? Currently they are always *.h.

When will multiple classes in one generated file (Package) be supported?

General Board / Automation in VB.Net
« on: August 29, 2002, 09:33:45 am »
How do you create the Interop assembly required to use the EA Automation interface from VB.NET?

Dim x as object
x = CreateObject("EA.Repository") results in 'ActiveX error cannot create object"   ???

The same code from VBScript workds OK.

General Board / External Requirement URL
« on: May 15, 2002, 08:51:39 am »
Would it be possible to add the "Files" tab to a Requirements entity or, alternatively, add a property to allow a URL to be entered. Basically, I would like to link the Requirement to the original document.

Thanks. Darren

General Board / Automation Interface - Dual Interface
« on: March 05, 2002, 05:02:23 am »
Would it be possible to extend the current Automation inteface into a Dual Interface i.e. vtable (early binding).

Having a typlib for this would give the benefits of compile time checking and Intellisense(autocomplete) in VB, VC++, etc.

Thanks, Darren.

General Board / Relationship Matrix Profiles
« on: March 05, 2002, 07:24:58 am »
Thanks for the Relationship Matrix Profiles this has made life a lot easier.

Of course you should have realsied this would be the thin end of the wedge!

Possible enhancement that would make the matrix even more useful: package property to exclude package from matrix, even better would be to exclude/include package from matrix for particular profiles.

Thanks again. Darren.

General Board / Relationship Matrix
« on: February 26, 2002, 03:20:58 am »
The relationship matrix is proving extremely useful but there are a couple of enhancements I would like to suggest:

1. Profiles: an additional drop down that would allow the settings Source, Target, etc. to be saved under a name for easy recall later.

2. An entity in the tree browser to open the matrix with a particular profile.

I know I can access the data directly (currently do this for more complex rules) but for basic enquirys having this built in would be extremely useful.

Thanks, Darren.

General Board / XML Import
« on: January 03, 2002, 08:06:24 am »
This is a repost from the old forum :o

I have an EAP with all our common requirements modelled in detail.

I have a number of seperate EAPs (the build & delivery projects) that import the common requirements via a controlled package. However, when importing, the original package is deleted thus removing the realisation links between diagrams and the requirements. Is there anyway of refreshing the requirements in the delivery projects without loosing the diagram links?
