Bugs and Issues / Re: Cloud Service user

Hello Uffe,
we are doing pretty the same as mentioned by smendonc.

Not sure what you have in mid for compare. .eap is a MS-Access DB (just to long ago that I worked with Access to know I comparing two DB’s is simple or not.
Another option would be transferring it to a real SQL DB like oracle, MySQL, MS-SQL,…

Hello Helmut,
that is super!
I will try it today.
Thank you!

Uml Process / Re: Requirements model vs User Stories in scrum tool
« on: July 04, 2016, 07:10:44 pm »
Don’t be dogmatic!
Engineering happens in the brain. And if several brains are involved, you need to connect these brains and this is done nowadays by communication. Whatever you need for suitable communication (meetings, documents, models, sketches or little slips of paper pinned on the wall) you have to do.

If you can create something good, just by interaction of individuals without processes and tools, that is fine but typically very unrealistic.

If you can create something good what can be maintained in future without documentation, it is a good thing as well, but as well often very unrealistic.

You have to consider, that agile manifesto people saw projects, where people lost the focus be writing vast quantity of useless information following a mindset “development is dogmatic executing a documentation process”.

Nowadays to me, it seem that maybe the same people switched to the mindset “development is hacking and called agile”.

If Scrum is good for you project, just do it, but keep in mind that Scrum is a kind of project management stuff, telling almost nothing about technical things. Not telling anything about technical thing does not mean there is no need to care about that.

The SQL goes into the tagged value “ViewProperties”. So you have to manipulate that tagged value.

Thank you Uffe!
This is what I am already doing, because it just creates a <<ModelView>> class what I did just another way around.

General Board / Re: Associate Diagram to Element
« on: June 30, 2016, 07:12:53 pm »
Hello Pascal,
what you are having here is a composite diagram and for a composite diagram EA opens the diagram rather than the properties dialog.
As far as I know there is no general switch to change that, but you can define that your element has no composite diagram by uncheck “Composit” under “New Child Diagram”.

I want to show package baseline information in html reports. The easiest way I found was creating a “ModelView” element on a diagram having a SQL query doing the job.
The problem with that is that the diagram element does not auto-scale and so the html pages might not show all what is relevant.
Has anyone of you ideas how to achieve that, without doing too much EA and html scripting?

where I get this hoTools from?
Is it open source?

Really strange workaround but it helped me as well!
Thank you Uffe!

Bugs and Issues / Re: 1301: How to minimize ribbon
« on: June 28, 2016, 10:57:34 pm »
Qwerty! Your fall back to V12 is not a sustainable solution (I belief)! I assume you have to life with ribbon sooner or later, or you have to vote yourself for a qwexit. ;)

After starting working with V13 I am pretty sure that the day will come when I am as productive as with V12, but I do not belief to get even more productiveness by ribbon anyway.

So for me it is just having the same thing just at other places with neither significant benefits nor disadvantages (except transition). For Sparx it is may be a marketing issue.
Instead of doing the same thing over and over again, from my point of view having in each EA release a bit more consistency and quality would give me real benefit.

General Board / Re: Display elements automaticaly in a grouping box
« on: June 28, 2016, 10:25:57 pm »
I am not sure, but maybe I am trying to do a similar thing.
I do not know what group boxes are, but I assume that those are some kind of grouping elements of Archimate, right?

In my scenario I have different subsystems in a model all having e.g. a package containing requirements, architecture, …
I want to visualize what of those “major” packages belong to which subsystem and in what states they are.
To do that I use a Kanban diagram (I know that Kanban is intended for something else).
With the Kanban diagram you can (as far as I understand) define a SQL-query to define what goes in that Kanban diagram. The problem is just that defining a SQL query of style “give me all children at any package under package X is hard.
(One reason why I created this:,31067.0.html)
Maybe what you try with “Group Box” what I try with Kanban.

Yes, it is tool tip what I was taking about. I disabled “Show Tips in Status Bar” just because I am not very good in squinting.

Yes, I confirm I want an explicit parameter rather than selection something in the browser.
This would allow filtering things under a package without selection it.
