Suggestions and Requests / Re: CMMN Support

I'm also interested in this. Looking forward to an update.
To get an update you will have to submit a feature request to Sparx

You want us to re-invent a unicode character entry system that should exist as part of your OS?

And document the unicode standard within our user guide?
What I had I mind was:

Providing documentation in the EA user guide that indicated how a user could suggest to EA where to break long tokens (cf breaking hyphens), and maybe explain how EA does it algorithmically now.

Providing extra assistance to users by way of the UI so that:
  • users could easily create or remove a 'break suggestion'
  • users could easily see where the suggested break might be, e.g. ⏎"⏎"
  • the break suggestion would not impact searches, or use of names in other contexts, e.g. code generation (i.e. the break would not be part of the token)

I have no idea how you link diagrams.
But you could look at Report Generation, and specifically Virtual Documents

A low tech way is to export the package, make the change with an editor (I use Notepad++) and import it.

A table isn't a diagram, so what you suggest won't work.
You would need to create a diagram with the specific table entity in it.

Not in EA 13

The algorithmic approach already provides for option 2.

Insert a zero width space into the text.
Great, thanks
Now if I could do this easily from within the EA UI ...
or find it documented in the EA user guide

It seems to me that when the "algorithmic approach" breaks down when it comes to breaking long tokens (which are found in IT) there are two further approaches
1) simply break it at an arbitrary point, e.g. halfway, to enable the string to wrap
2) allow the (human) author to provide guidance (e.g. a hard return) that is ignored (or held separately) on where to split the token.

Here is a sample of what behaviour you get from Ctrl-D, Ctrl-Del, and Del in 12.1 in several contexts

Entity or package in Project Browser (12.1)
Ctrl-Del brings up Delete confirmation dialogue
Del has no effect
Ctrl-D has no effect

Element on diagram
Ctrl-Del brings up Delete from diagram and model confirmation when entity selected
Del deletes from diagram when entity selected
Ctrl-D deletes from diagram when entity selected

Attribute in element on diagram
Ctrl-Del has no effect when attribute in entity selected
Del has no effect when attribute in entity selected
Ctrl-D deletes from diagram when attribute in entity is selected

Package element on diagram
Ctrl-Del has no effect
Del deletes from diagram
Ctrl-D deletes from diagram

Entity properties in dialogue box
No keyboard shortcut to delete a tag
No keyboard shortcut to delete a file entry

Attributes (columns) and operations (constraints) dialogue box
Ctrl-Del deletes attribute or operation
Del has no effect
Ctrl-D deletes attribute or operation

Attributes (columns) and operations (constraints) in project browser
Ctrl-Del to delete attribute or operation
Del has no effect
Ctrl-D has no effect

See Run Version 8 and Beta 9 on same machine

Can you install Enterprise Architect 13 alongside an older version?

Yes. You can simply rename your current installation subfolder from "EA" to "EA-Previous" for example, and then install the new version. (Your installation path by default is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sparx Systems" and the "EA" subfolder resides under that.) You'll then have two subfolders that contain a file named EA.exe, which represent the different versions Enterprise Architect.

To run your previous version, run the EA.exe file from your renamed installation folder.
