General Board / Re: EA13 Sweeper and 'HV Lock'
« on: July 24, 2016, 07:26:15 pm »
I thought I'd try it out - both "sweeper" and "Sweeper" elicited

Up, thats right, a big fat nothing.

On the other hand, if you search sparx systems (and you alsmost cant avoid doing this as the search will not stay set on EA User guide)
you do get (and no its not case sensitive)

lol

Would it be possible to have the project browser action icons back?. E.g. find in project browser, new folder, new artefact, new diagram, etc?

Me too, ++1
(Does 'A' stand for attachment or artefact?)

Over the year I have reported many fixed size dialogue boxes, both here and then as a feature request to make them re-sizable.

Sparx have made many (or maybe all) of them re-sizable as a result of a feature request.

Keep up the good work and submit a separate feature request for each fixed dialogue box (and please note in the forum so others can support these feature requests with their own feature requests).

See for example
Resizable dialogues
9.0 resizable dialogues
8.0 resizable dialogues

Bugs and Issues / DB Permissions for Project transfer
« on: June 17, 2016, 11:34:09 am »
We are creating a new SQL Server repository.
Our DB created the database and executed the EA schema SQL.
I then attempted to open the new repository and as expected received a prompt to transfer an existing project in.
I, like all users, have read-write access to the repository.
I get an error. "Cannot find the object "t_category" because it does not exist or you do not have permissions.
Yet I can see the table using SQL Server management studio.

Do I need initial additional permissions for this step?

Suggestions and Requests / Re: EA 13 beta edit diagram

Thanks Roy, that is most helpful.

I tried it with "Copy". It did get me to the "Layout" ribbon, but no icon is highlighted.

Suggestions and Requests / EA 13 beta edit diagram
« on: June 05, 2016, 08:35:10 am »

I'm finding the new ribbons quite usable, and its great to see icons

The new "layout" ribbon seems to be the best one to have available when working on a diagram.

A request please to consider having the items under the edit drop down immediately accessible (e.g. as small icons), rather than being an extra click away.
Specifically the copy and paste options.

Also, to the right of the ribbon tabs is a search with the title "find command". Please consider providing a mapping of command to ribbon and section within ribbon (similar to the Keyboard accelerator map).

There are still toolbars, such as workspace layout. I'd like to be able to dock them in a ribbon or say with the project browser.

Beyond Compare is a very useful tool, finds differences in most anything.
I used to use BeyondCompare until I discovered the free WinMerge.

General Board / Actor classifier and instance
« on: June 03, 2016, 02:37:04 pm »

I have an actor (classifier) on a diagram - in rectangular notation.
I wanted to replace it with instance (to represent a specific type of actor).

How do I give the instance rectangular notation (i.e. make it look the same as the classifier was)?

It is one thing having the EA document generator modify headings by counting the levels of nesting and changing "heading 1" to "heading n",

it is quite another to expect that paragraph styles (e.g. Normal or Body Text) be changed depending on the heading above.

And Word handles multi-level lists poorly in any case,
my advice, don't do this at home, and don't do it in Architectural documents (indentation will reduce the space available for diagrams)

Thanks for the input! It worked like a charm  ;D

Maybe an enhancement for next version?

Kind regards
Mads

Only if you submit it as a feature request, please
