General Board / Build 490
« on: May 22, 2002, 07:03:00 am »
First off, have to say that it looks good, and the profiles and stylesheets seem like they could be very useful.
(Almost enough changes that you could have afforded an extra .1 on the version!)

In the release notes it states that enumerations are now supported for VB - any guidance on the proper way to build them as I am not able to generate anything that looks like an enumeration at the moment.

PS great to see bug fixes so quickly (property .... end property!)

General Board / Property Let and Get (Bug?)
« on: May 20, 2002, 10:21:38 am »
Having just used EA to generate a load of property functions for me in VB, I have just discovered what might be a bug.

The property let and get statements are generated correctly but instead of
End Property as expected

it is generating End Function statements!

If this has been raised before, I'm sorry!

General Board / EA and VBA (particularly Access)
« on: April 15, 2002, 09:45:34 am »
Ok folks, here goes.....

I am currently doing a lot of Access VBA development and would like to use UML to  model all of the classes, modules forms etc as I go along - good software engineering etc.....

Now EA will happily help me to manage the VB aspects of the project - classes and ActiveX controls etc.  Unfortunately, there is no way to hook it into the VBA needed in the project.

However, what I was thinking was that if I was to automatically create a VB project that mapped to the VBA creating forms etc programmatically from the info in VBA then I would be able to import it all into EA and document what is needed.

If I was then to write a reverse tool to generate Access from the VB definitions then it would seem as though this could work.

A number of questions then -
1) Does this seem a sensible approach?
2) Is there any tools out there that will do this for me?
3) Would anyone else be interested if I did this?
4) Geoff, is there any intention to make EA pickup VBA anyway?
5) Would I be better to generate XMI for the import, but it would not solve the Access creation issues

Any thoughts, comments or even derision, welcome.....

General Board / Confused by Notelink and more...
« on: April 09, 2002, 10:05:21 am »
I think I am missing something, or otherwise not spending enough time with the product.....

But what are the connector labels for on a notelink?

In addition, on my stateflow I have Guard,Event and Action labels, how do I get a linefeed between them so that they are not all in one line?

Is there any update as to when labels will be moveable on lines?

Still the best product out there....

Thanks,

Matt

General Board / Iteration on Sequence Diagrams
« on: January 29, 2002, 03:29:41 am »
Hi,
I am trying to model a sequence that iterates through a collection.  Unfortunately I can't find any way of showing an iteration taking place without fudging it on the conditions.  Am I missing something or is there no way to show this in EA?

Thanks for the help,

Matt

General Board / XML DTD
« on: January 18, 2002, 05:42:39 am »
Please help!

I am trying to examine XML export from EA using XMLspy4.2 because I am looking to create some XSL conversions to produce web documentation of the project I am working on.

However, XML Spy insists that there is problems with the XML file as there are problems with the DTD file {UML:'ActivityGraph' is undefined}.  Can someone please point out how to resolve these (or whether anyone else is having these problems!)

Thanks for the help and keep up the good work,

Matt

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Icons in Addin Menus
« on: June 21, 2007, 04:48:26 am »
Hi all,

we are currently trying to polish off an add-in and would like to add icons to the menus we are generating in the add-in.

Is there a way to do this?  Can't find anything in the notes or the forum.

Many thanks,

Matt

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / EA Version and Plug-ins
« on: March 04, 2005, 02:05:01 am »
This may have been answered before - if it has I am sorry but did trawl the forum....

Is there any way for a plug-in to find out what version of EA it is running in?  I have looked through the documentation and have not been able to find anything.

Very grateful for any help on this one,

Matt

Please can someone explain how I get to the diagram behind a hyperlink?

I can see an element with a type of "text" where ever my hyperlinks are and from that I can get the name - which seems to be the same as the hyperlink info, however, what I can't seem to find is how to get to the actual underlying diagram.

Any help will be very gratefully received - I am tearing my hair out here!

Hi there,

it may be a silly question but...

what is the Item that I need to pass into this function?

Surely it should be a straight call - GetTreeSelectedItem() as ObjectType.

Please can someone advise on what I should pass to the function as the documentation is not clear on this.

Very many thanks,

Matt
