General Board / Stereotyped Messages in Sequence Diagrams
« on: April 27, 2003, 04:42:28 pm »
Hi there,

Is there a way of creating stereotyped messages in sequence diagrams?  For instance if object A sends a create message to object B, is there a way I can sterotype the message to read '<< create >>'?  I know I can enter '<< create >>' as the message title, but I'd prefer a formal stereotype if available.

Thanks,
Darryl Staflund

Bugs and Issues / Relationship Matrix Doesn't Support Fork/Join
« on: January 26, 2010, 05:06:16 am »
Hi all,

The Relationship Matrix in the current version of Enterprise Architect doesn't support the Fork/Join element of Activity diagrams.  'Fork/Join' doesn't appear in the list of available Source or Target types in the matrix, and fork/join elements don't appear when the appropriate Source or Target type is set to '<All>'.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Region containment not correct in HTML report
« on: January 23, 2010, 04:18:51 am »
Hi Paulo,

'Nested' -- that's the word I was looking for :-)

Yes, all activities show up as nested in the Activity Region of the browser though they don't all appear as nested in the HTML report.

I am not sure if I saved the diagram or not.  I regenerated my HTML report for the problematic diagram this morning and everything it looks great -- no problem at all.  I'll just chalk this up as a one-off :-)

Bugs and Issues / Region containment not correct in HTML report
« on: January 22, 2010, 03:55:17 pm »
Hi there,

I have created a number of activity diagrams in which I have perform the following sequence of modifications:

1.  Added a number of activities to the diagram.
2.  Added an Interruptable Activity Region to the diagram.
3.  Moved the previously defined activities into the region so that they are shown as being contained by the region in EA's Project Browser.
4.  Added more activities to the diagram and made sure to place them directly within the Interruptable Activity Region.

When I generate an HTML report of the resulting document, the containment relationships between activity and region aren't right.  Some activities are depicted (in the left-side icon tree of the HTML report) as residing withi the Interruptable Activity Region, while other are depicted as residing outside this region.  They should all be depicted as residing within the activity region.

Uml Process / Re: The best way to write use cases?
« on: May 20, 2003, 03:25:24 pm »
Hi there,

If I am developing an n-tier web application I like to write one use case that handles that handles all the different scenarios of a business process being implemented.

When I draw it up using Enterprise Architect, however, I like to create an abstract use case icon for the use case as a whole and then create concrete particular use case icons for each round-trip from the client to the server and back again.  I then use realize relations to connect them back to the abstract use case icon.

I get a number of benefits from doing this:

1.  I can come up with rough estimates on how long it will take to implement the use case by multiplying the number of client/server requests with the average historical time needed to implement a client/server request.

2.  I can create interaction diagrams for each client/server request, making sure to focus on the calls taking place for it.

3.  I can partition the concrete uses cases to my workmates.

I like it :-)  And this way of partitioning use cases goes hand-in-hand with presentation technologies like Jakarta Struts in which the atomic work unit is an 'Action'.

Cheers,
Darryl

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / EA / Hibernate Add-On?
« on: February 26, 2010, 06:07:06 pm »
Hi there,

Does anyone know if there is an EA Add-On that would generate UML domain models depicting the entities and value objects defined in a collection of Hibernate Mapping (*.hbm.xml) files or annotated sourcefiles?

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to get MDG Link for Eclipse to recognize projects checked out of Perforce?  I can't seem to get this working no matter what I do.

Thanks,
Darryl Staflund
