Metrics and Estimation

You can calculate the size of a planned software centric project by using a system of measurement called Use Case Points based on the fact that a set of Use Cases will specify the required functionality for a system. The method uses two important factors in the calculation:

  • Environmental Complexity Factors (ECF)
  • Technical Complexity Factors (TCF)

You specify a weighting for each factor to indicate how important the factor is in the overall measurement. You can also add any number of new factors or change or delete existing ones as required. These factors are specified and maintained in  'Estimation Factors' dialog.

Risk, metric and effort types for a project are controlled from the 'Project Indicators' dialog.
