Title: Slow start of EA
Post by: kakukiko on November 03, 2011, 12:13:54 pm
Hi

Time ago I installed Enterprise Architect, version 9.0.908.51 and when I ran the app, it took a lot of time to start (about 10 minutes). After that time, the behavior is completely normal and i could use the app freely. Now I've installed the last version 9.1.910.45 and the same problem occurs.
When I run the task manager, doesn't appear in the applications tab,  I could see the process EA.exe running, but consuming 0% of cpu and about 40MB of memory. It worth to say that there's not another process using the cpu exhaustively or using all the available memory. I don't have these kind of lags with other applications.
I ran the app too without the AV runnning (AVG), and the same. Besides that I don't have another process running that could prevent to run the app.
I'm working with windows xp sp2, with a core 2 duo @ 2,66 Ghz and 4GB RAM. There's enough free space in disk too.
What thing it could be? I suppose the app record some log. Where is located to send you? I could use the program, but is really annoying wait so much to use it.

Thanks in advance  :)

Just a guess, but do you have any add-ins installed for Enterprise Architect?  In EA, open "Extensions | Manage Add-Ins".  If any are installed, try disabling the "Load on Startup" option for all and restart EA.  Does that make any difference?

On a shared repository, when the project becomes big, it pays to activate the lazy load.
