Title: ArchiMate 2 not honouring Routing options
Post by: Paolo F Cantoni on May 22, 2015, 02:29:29 pm
One of my users has noted that even if he changes the Tools | Options | Links | Default Style: Routing to "Direct",  the connectors are still drawn as "Orthogonal - Rounded".

I presume the shape script is enforcing the Line style and since it can't access the options,  there's not much that can be done about it.

While I'm at it, why isn't the complete list of line styles (some 9 in the "Connector Properties" frame) available in the Options list - where there's only the VERY basic 3.

TIA,
Paolo

Hi Paolo,

In fact there is something you can do about it, if you don't mind some scripting.
Have a look at the script here:
Configure your own default line styles with EA-Matic (http://bellekens.com/2015/03/14/configure-your-own-default-line-styles-in-enterprise-architect-with-ea-matic/)
Or at the script in the downloadable .eap file from the webinar  Introduction to scripting with Enteprise Architect (http://www.sparxsystems.com/resources/webinar/partners/scripting/scripting-introduction-bellekens.html)

The advantage of using the EA-Matic script (with EA-Matic of course) is that it immediately gives new connectors the correct style.
With the webinar script you still have to execute it on each diagram.

You might well ask.

And in the spirit of the old days
Bezier lines (http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1397734910/1#1) could be added too
Restrictions on the use of lines (http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1402617874/0#0)
mentioned and asked for back in 2011 (http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1323053515/6#6)
