In rectangle notation, if an icon decoration is present, and <Diagram> | Properties... | Elements | Show Element Stereotypes is unmarked, then the icon decoration (apparently not the same as the "icon" since its display can't be controlled by: <Diagram> | Properties... | Elements | Use Stereotype Icons) will be drawn above the item name text. Word wrap will only occur at the edge of the item. This is very ugly!
The name processing should take into account the presence of the decoration/icon. There are a number of approaches to solve this problem, but first it needs to be acknowledged as a problem.

Yesterday, one of my users came to me complaining that their diagrams were "mucked up" because EA had wrapped the names differently to when they were first created (years ago now).
Investigating further, I discovered that a shape with t_object.Object_Type=Activity behaves differently to one where Object_Type=Class.
In rectangular notation, an Activity based shape will NOT overwrite the icon area, wherreas a non-Activity (my "day job", believe it or not, is not EAUI investigator - so I didn't test anything but Activity and Class) will over/underwrite the icon area.
So it would appear that the solution is already available to Sparx.
