Any solution or workaround?

You might try to upgrade your EA version.

No fixes regarding the generation of documentation were mentioned in the release notes. In what version is this crash fixed?
-
Have you reported the issue to Sparx?
I don't think this is a general issue since I've been generating documents without issues on both v12 and 12.1

I am having this same issue. I reported it to Sparx. The application crashes repeatedly when creating large custom documents or running the document generator. Are there any workarounds or solutions?

In general, when any application that renders documents into graphical or print ready formats crashes repeatably you should have a cleanup of temp files and run checkdisk. Often the crashes are caused by hitting cross-linked files when writing large temporary files.
Bleachbit http://bleachbit.sourceforge.net/ is an excellent tool for cleaning all of the detritus out of your file system.

I cleaned up the temp files and checked the disk. Still crashing.

Try build 1226. It contains a fix for a crash during generation. I hope it's the same one you're experiencing...
