Title: resize class stereotypes/ boxes
Post by: Ishpal Singh on February 20, 2002, 06:19:06 am
Hi,

Can I resize or suppress the attributes / operations in the class diagrams ?
I dont wanna see all the attributes and operations for all the classes.

Thanks,

Ishpal.

Hi,

Have you tried to right mouse click on the class in the diagram and select the "Sepcify Feature Visibility" option?  I'm not sure that that is what you are looking for but sounds like it.

Hope that helps,

Steve

Hi,

The visiblity function of the feature seems to be for controlling the display of attributes based on access modifiers.

I just simply wanna resize the box displaying the class, so that I can fit more classes in the same window, when I dont wanna see all the attributes and operations as in Rose.

thanks,
Ishpal.

Hi,

Then maybe I'm missing something here but why can't you select the object and just resize it with the mouse?

Hi,

When I try to resize the boxes to a smaller size, they move back to the original size when the mouse is released.

thanks for your reply,
IShpal.

Hi,

What version are you running?

I just tried the same thing here and it seems to work fine for me.   Keep in mind that whenever I move and resize things I make the diagram fit to the window so I can make sure everything fits on one page and then I _immediately_ save the project.

Hi,

I'm using Program Version: 3.1.0 (Build 465)
I still cant set the size of the boxes smaller than to fit all the attributes and operations.
Like in Rose we can supress the attributes/ operations and then we dont see all the attributes.

Dont know how can you do the same in EA ?

Ishpal,

I'm not sure what to tell you.   I can turn off the attributes so I can't see them and then I can adjust the boxes to be smaller than normal.

Sorry,

Steve

Hi,

See earlier response, but it sounded as if you didn't want to do that.

Cheers,

Steve

I have the same problem. EA always displays the full name of an operation or an attribute. There is no way to make the box smaller than the certain size and CLIP its content. I can make it bigger but normally there is no point to.

For example I have an operaton
UpdateStatus(Newstatus :bool, Timestamp :DteTime) :bool

I'd like to see it clipped as
UpdateStatus(Newstatus :bool, Time...

Here is how it's implemented in Rational Rose:

I too have had a few diagrams go to pieces due to an object auto-growing to fit the text in - it usually occurs when an object appears in more than one diagram/package as someone else has changed/added an attribute or operation in 'his' part of the model. This could be resolved by giving the option to suppress auto-sizing (probably at object level in 'adjust appearance' or 'set feature visibility', although others might consider it more useful as a diagram level attribute)

Alternatively, you can simply reduce the font size but that then makes the others unreadable too!
