Title: Modelling UML Schemas
Post by: sbaishya on February 22, 2002, 04:02:16 am
Hi,

Is anyone aware of a standard way of modelling XML Schemas using the UML? I have found a document on the Rational site, but it is way out of date.

Something like this would be a useful addition to EA.

Hi,

I have a few ideas for this which may come to something soon. In particular I am looking at the possibility of generating and post-processing UML/XMI thru a user defined XSL script. This would allow objects and diagrams to be exported in a variety of formats - code, HTML, even an XML schema. You could do this now using the XMI export, then running an XSL script over it - but I like the idea of having everything at your fingertips.

If you are interested in the UML/XML relationship, the book "Modeling XML Applications with UML" is quite good. Author is 'David Carlson'.

Hope this is of interest,

Geoff Sparks

There's a very good resource on the web for XML modelling with UML, look here: http://xmlmodeling.com
