(hey can you turn off the field limitation in 'subject' I couldn't fit in the entire title)
Use cases has this nifty 'requirements' tab which lists all the dependencies a use case has on formal requirements.
That's cool. And you can enter them in there directly, and even say 'move to external' so other use cases can refer to them.
Cool. But wait... how do you associate a use case with an external relation? Is the only way to do it visually in the use case window? This is ok for like, 1 requirement, but what if you want a series of requirements satisfied by a series of use cases? What do you do then?
cheers!
Julian.

Hi Julian,
Not sure about the subject limitation - will check it out.
If you check out the use case relationships AFTER the requirement has been moved external, you will note that a Realisation relationship has been added from the Use Case to the Requirement object that was created.
You can create Realisation relationships from any use case to any requirement, creating a model of the dependencies and relationships between model elements and requirements.
Note that you can do this in diagrams -or - use the relationship matrix with Use Cases on one axis and Requirements on the other - set the link type to Realisation and right click in the boxes where you want to create links.
If you locate the requirement and bring up its property dialog, you can click on the Hierarchy tab and see an implementation list showing all elements Ieg Use Cases) that the Requirement is related to.
Hope this gets you started,
