Title: Custom routed vs. direct
Post by: frank on November 27, 2002, 03:49:57 pm
I have been using EA with default line style set to direct, changing individual lines to custom routed as required.  It seems though that a custom routed line with no line points added is effectively a direct routed line anyhow.

Is there any reason not to simply make all lines custom routed rather than direct?  Is there any reason for the product to have direct as a line style?

Frank.

Good point...

Also- it would be convenient if the custom line style had an "ortho" setting (one that was "sticky") so that tidied right angles would stay that way when objects are moved.  Currently, it is necessary to readjust custom lines after moving connected objects.

Good point.  I have been fiddling about changing between direct, auto routing and custom lines.  I will set my default to custom which can be done by selecting View|Options...|Objects and selecting the appropriate connector style.

As far as right angled lines are concerned - try this.  Drag the lines to almost right angle and right click on the line Select the option "Tidy line angles" and the lines will snap to right angles.

Thanks, Phil.

This feature works fine, but must unfortunatelybe repeated if objects are moved.  I would like to see the "tidiness" state of the line stick once set such that it automatically adjusts the angles after objects are rearranged.
