Hi,
well, if the only functionality you are interested in is database modeling, and if you already have PowerDesigner, my advice is to keep using it (and I say it as someone who LOVES Enterprise Architect :-) )
Let's compare the two:
PowerDesigner is an awesome database modeling tool, there are also additional modules that include code generation and reverse-engineering, UML modeling etc. As far as database modeling goes, PowerDesigner is definitely superior to Enterprise Architect, for two main reasons: support of both Logical and Physical models AND the ability to generate one from the other one, and ability to model not only tables and columns, but also stored procedures, views...
UML modeling capabilities - EA is infinitely superior for a number of reasons, but you are not interested in this, are you?
Support of a multi-user repository - EA has it, PowerDesigner too, but at an extra cost (thousands of $, if I well remember).
Forward- and reverse- engineering of database schemas - PowerDesigner is, in my opinion, more mature here.
Price - EA is much Much MUCH cheaper - for one licence of PowerDesigner if I well remember the price, you could buy about 25 licences of EA.
As you have mentioned that you already have PowerDesigner, my recommendation would be to keep using it (but I would still suggest getting trial version of EA and see whether you like it more). If you see in your future need for more than just database modeling, I would recommend having close look at EA for sure.
Hope this helps!
Bruno
