Title: How do I move visual user layouts between machines
Post by: pcbsd on August 30, 2005, 06:32:35 pm
I'd like to move my visual user layouts from one machine to another.

How do I do that?

Thanks.

Well, unfortunately EA currently doesn't have a means to import or export the user layouts.  This is a good suggestion however; I'll put through a change request.

In the mean time: if you are handy with regedit, you may be interested in the following workaround.

EA stores the 5 user layouts in the registry in the following keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_USER.Software.Sparx Systems.EA400.EA.Screen_Layout_451_n

*Where n is between 0 and 4.

To transfer:

-Export these ScreenLayout keys to a reg file
-Ensure that these keys are not present on the target user (delete them if the are).
-Import the aformentioned reg file on the target.

Please mail our support address if you would like further assistance.

HTH,

Ash

Please add a complete copying of all local settings (not only visual layout) to that feature request. I am the "EA expert" in our company, and while I like to have all the options that EA has, I think it is a pain to remember every little checkbox that I once found when I help a new user get started.
