Title: Oracle 9i Repository
Post by: JeffM on October 26, 2005, 07:01:59 am
New user of EA Corporate and ony just getting started... Went through ICONIX training but this topic just never came up.  I have a couple of questions that I was hoping someone could/would answer, please.  I can't find any definitive info on these in EA Help or through seraching the BB.

1.  Why is [or is it?] a repository better than just using the .eap file?  fyi - There will be multiple users accessing this at any given time.

2.  Can one repository be used for multiple projects?  Safely?  Where there would be many projects and many users accessing each of these projects simultaneously?

Thanks for any input/feedback.
Jeff M.

Hi Jeff,

i only can answer the first question. The eap- file is the same as a Microsoft Access Database . Microsoft Access doesn't support multiple user access. If you work in a team use a repository.

To answer you 2nd question: A repository is as save as the underlying database. You can store multiple projects in the same repository when you use different roots in the project view. This has dis/advantages depending on your needs. You would likely need EAs security instead of using the database's mechanisms.
