Hi, all
I place a hyperlink (to a Word doc) on my diagram. When I browse to the file, it gives the relative path (C:\My Projects\...\Sibling Folder\Test.doc). When I double-click on the link, it opens the file as expected. Since I have to place the entire design on a CD later on, I'd like to use the relative path ( ..\Sibling Folder\Test.doc). When I double-click on the link, it seldomly opens the file, most of the time, it does not work. I wonder what is the trick.
Is there any better way to achieve the relative path so that I can move the entire folder without relink?
Thanks.

Hi Dion,
There was quite a bit of discussion about relative paths here recently. The bottom line is that you can do some of what you want with the paths in Tools / Options etc., but probably not everything.
Do a search, and try several keyword combinations (to get everything possible) and you'll see some Sparx responses, as well as relevant suggestions from various members.
I don't remember if Sparx said they were working on this. If you don't see an indication that they are, I suggest you open EA and submit a request via Help / On-line Resources / Request-a-Feature.

I'm working in several positions with relative paths and it worked with no problem. I haven't tried what you did, Dion. Could you give the steps you take and I might have a look.

Thanks for looking into this for me. The way I add the links are as follows:
In the Class model, I add a new diagram. I right click on the diagram and insert the hyperlink. I browse to the file, it gives the absolute path (C:\My Projects\...\Sibling Folder\Test.doc). The I chnage it to relative path ( ..\Sibling Folder\Test.doc) and give a alias. Click OK to save it.
I have found that the hyperlinks sometime work and sometimes do not if I doubleclick on the links. Looks like if I close my .eap file and then re-open it. Most of time it works. Very interesting. I wonder why.
Thanks.

Î just tried and it did not work. I linked a .txt one level up but nothing opened. When using an absolute path it worked. So you should report that via the bug report page.
