Title: Oracle support?

When the documentation mentions Oracle, it often explicitly refers to versions 9 and 10g.

Does this mean that older Oracles such as 7 and 8i - are not supported?

I'm pretty sure Oracle 7 is not supported; perhaps it never was.

While my memory suggests 8i might once have been supported, I believe it no longer is, if ever.
