Title: RTF Style Template Editor - Need a real help file
Post by: tdcoll on December 14, 2006, 02:20:06 pm
Does anyone have a real help file for the RTF Style Template Editor?

I have purused the standard help file on EA, as well as the "Working with the RTF Generator" white paper by Dermot O’Bryan (thx Dermot).

I am trying to understand how 'list overrides' work', how to access the 'normal.rtf' style sheet for default formatting, etc.

Any help is welcome.

Look at this topic
Am I the only one who hates the template editor? (http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=general;action=display;num=1161730908;start= )

Sparx has recently stated they have done considerable work on the RTF generator. This is slated to come out very soon - build 800 is current as I write this - so you might do well to wait one or two builds and see if the landscape (and documentation) changes.

Hello,

In answer to TDColl questions above:

we have had some problems with the Normal.rtf and are working on these.  As a work around it is best to simply set up a template with no Contents area text, but with the Styles set as you would with the Normal.RTF.

Save this and create new templates using this template as the starting "copy".

List Overrides:  There is a lot information on these in the updated Whitepaper (yet to be posted).  Unfortunately, it requires diagrams to understand it, otherwise I would post the contents here.
In short the: Edit | List Overrides - is where this is defined.  It requires creatng a List Item, then a List Override, then defining these using Edit | Edit List Level.

I hope this is of help.
