Title: Show Actor Stereotype
Post by: avdkamp on August 24, 2007, 04:23:54 am
Hello,

How can I make the stereotype of an Actor visible on an Use Case diagram, like the <<system>> Payment Processor in this  http://www.agilemodeling.com/style/useCaseDiagram.htm#Actors example of Scott Ambler.

Regards,

Arno van de Kamp

No way that I could find.
I think you should mail Sparx support with a link to this thread and propose it.

They way I might do it for System actors is to use the rectangle notation ('cause a system is not a people ;) ) and set the Stereotype to <<Actor.System>>

In use cases systems should also be actors and (AFAIK) look like any other actors, though I never though strict UML is totally necessary... ;)

Agreed, all people and systems may be actors, but not all actors are people or systems.

From a notational perspective, however, take a look at the  UML 2.1.1 Specification (http://www.omg.org/cgi-bin/doc?formal/07-02-03) Document, Section 16.3.1 Actors, Presentation Options... IMHO, I am in strict compliance.  ;D

FWIW (and against my own BP's) ...

For modelling purposes (as opposed to presentation purposes) I've always just made them different colours.
