Title: Ordering
Post by: bmains on December 07, 2007, 05:56:04 am
Hello,

I'm using EA 6.5, and I'm noticing that as I'm creating tables, it's not keeping them in alphabetical order as it once was, which is nice.  Is there any way to force that to happen?

Thanks.

What do you mean by "them?" And where do you observe the unexpected ordering?

Hello,

In the project browser, when I drag/drop tables into the model, it puts the table near the top of the project browser, no matter what the name is.  It isn't ordering the table names.  I don't remember if I mentioned this before, but I'm using 6.5.

Thanks.

Look on the Tools | Options dialog - I think it was on the general General tab back in EA 6.x days - and check the Allow Free Sorting box in the Project Browser section.

Did that help?

Hello,

Tools > Options > General > Check Allow Free Sorting.  I added a table called S, and it puts it at the top of the list.  I turn it off and see maybe it was a bug or something, but still at the top of the list.

Anything else?

Thanks.

With the option turned off, can you highlight the S element, then drag it to another spot on the Project Browser tree?

Also try the up and down arrows at the top of the project browser to move things around.  If you take control of the sorting, you have to do it all yourself, but you can get what you want.

Hello,

I didn't try dragging/dropping, but I'm sure that would work fine.  Up/Down works fine as well, which is helpful.  But, there is no option to default sorting???

Thanks.

No, at least I don't think so. It seems you have to either do it yourself - that's what the free sorting option allows - or accept EA's way.

Right-click the package and "Contents > Reset Sort Order"

Hello,

Yes, that's it!  I right-click the Data Model package and it's sorting again.  Thank you very much!
