Title: Automate Generate Package DDL
Post by: Nick2008 on May 15, 2008, 04:47:09 am
Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to automate the generation of a package to DDL using  the API object model, in the same way you would if you did it through the UI by selecting Project --> Database Enginnering --> Generate Package DDL.

I would also want to be able to set the location of the scripts that are created.

Can this be done with the object model?

Nick,

We've asked Sparx for this before, yet to no apparent avail. The idea would be something along the same lines as the current methods to forward and reverse engineer source code, including options for source and target directories (or database connections).

You can run transformations via the API, and there are ways to transform object models into database models. Still, you're just as stuck when you get to that point, until an automation-based DDL export arrives.

Please make this request directly to Sparx - you'll find the appropriate link near the bottom of any forum page - in the hope that repeated feature requests will continue to add weight to this requirement.

Great.

Another post over the past day has identified the same issue. Perhaps the time is nigh.
