Title: EA & Normal.rtf Template
Post by: Claudia_Dogaru on October 25, 2007, 07:17:04 am
I need a method that imports the Normal.rtf template into EA and I can't find one. I only found a way to import an XML file into EA.  I am working on creating the Normal.rtf template used by teh RTF Genrator according to our company's internal standards and styles. However, the documentation states that you can import the Normal.rtf template but when I try to do that it only allows imports of XML files.

Is there a method to import the Normal.rtf template into EA? I even looked in the EA defaults directory where all document templates are stored and only found XML files there.

If you can offer any guidance I would appreciate it since I have exhausted all options.

What I have done is to open the project, select the Resources view->Templates->RTF Templates, right click and select create new, base it on the one that is closest to you want.  This will open the RTF editor on the new template.  If you can't make your changes there ... which some have suggested is safer ... then select File->Export and put the file into the file system.  There you can edit or overwrite it to taste.  When done, then open the RTF editor on the template in EA and do File->Import.

I think that is right.  I have only done it once or twice.

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone could advise me where the normal.rtf file is stored? We are unable to find it locally or on our shared network.

Thanks,
Katy

My memory ... a bit dim this early in the morning ... was that it did not exist in the file system until one specifically exported it as described above.  The copy in the file system is *not* the one actually used to generate documentation.  It has to be imported to be used.
