Title: Message numbering in a sequence diagram

I would like to remove the message numbering in a sequence diagram? And also how do I make it 1,2,3.. instead of 1.1, 1.2, 1.3?

Navigate to the Tools | Options | Diagram | Sequence dialog and clear the Show Sequence Numbering box.

As far as the format, I don't think you can change this, but I could be wrong.
