Title: Master Data Management
Post by: Nusrat on April 22, 2009, 09:13:05 pm
Hi,
I have just started to use this product and wanted to know how I would use it to do Master data management?

Basically model the enterprise and from it derive the enterprise domain model and further denormalize to define the database tables.

Regards

Process:

1. Review your enterprise statements of strategic intent.
2. Each statement comprises a subject, verb and object.
3. The objects are often resources which your enterprise must manage to do well in the market place, example, customers.
4. Classify the list of objects to develop a hierarchy of terms (facet taxonomy). Use the generalization relationship.
5. Identify global objects like Party (Person, Groups and Organisations).
6. Use these global objects to define an enterprise concept model by associating them and including corporate level policies.
7. The enterprise concept model defines the scope your MDM efforts. Each global class is populated with attributes from multiple legacy systems.
8. Use EA's transformation features to translate your model to physical models (XSD if a messaging infrastructure and DDL if a Data Warehouse or ODS).
9. Good luck.

kind regards
