Title: UML Profile
Post by: jguerra on August 21, 2008, 10:45:44 pm
Hi,

Just to let you know I am experimenting something weird when I create a new stereotype from the Collaboration metaclass.
For some reason the stereotype is recognized in the diagrams as such but when I look for the stereotype in the Relationship Matrix, it is missing of the list of types. If I change the metaclass to UseCase for instance, it works, the stereotype is there, in the list of types. But when i put the Collaboration metaclass back in again, the stereotype is gone from the list of types in the Relationship Matrix view.

Have any of you an idea about whats going on??

Thanks

No idea, but...

Quite some time ago I had some problems with Collaboration elements in profiles. Stereotypes just did not seem to 'stick' properly. I reported the problem to Sparx, who were able to get things working better. At the time they indicated that this element type had been added to the list of things that could be stereotyped.

My guess is that the problem might have been a bit more complex than originally diagnosed, and more needed to be done. That would explain your symptoms. [Of course it could be something else entirely, but from your point of view there is little difference.]

I suggest you issue a bug report to Sparx - use the Registered Users bug report, or send an email to Sparx support - and attach a compressed project where this is happening. They should be able to sort it out quickly.

Include the URL of this thread in your report, so that Sparx can participate in this discussion if they have a workaround or solution.

If it turns out to be a bug, please post back here to let the rest of us know what Sparx has to say on the matter.

David

Thanks David for your reply, it sounds pickles anyway!!

I am going to report the issue to Sparx to see how it goes.

What you say make sense alright but, definitively the stereotype is there, in a diagram, I can stereotype a Collaboration element as "MyCollaboration" (my custom stereotype) with no probs. However, is missing in the list of types on the Relationship Matrix. No clues at all !!

Hi,
I reported the problem to Sparx on Aug 25th and nothing so far. Hopefully they will come back whether or not is a bug!! and when it will be fixed in the worst scenario.

Cheers
