A hopefully easy question. Like many organisations, we have a number of existing applications across the organisation. A few ERP systems, some reporting systems, etc. Naturally, there are extracts and imports flying between them.
What I'd like to do it catalog the lot in some visual means that holds all the information about what systems talk to what, who business owners are, who supports them, the base technology (i.e., MSSQL, Oracle), etc, etc. To me it's a logical architecture.
What's the best tool or approach? I can do it in visio but it's too fiddly. Perhaps EA is better? Can some provide some guidance or an example model?

The company that I work for (Enterprise Architects) have done exactly this several times using Sparx for corporate customers.
Works quite well, but there are pitfalls.
I know there are others out there doing the same thing - and doing it professionally. Be nice if we could create a peer group on a Sparx forum - which we've suggested to Sparx but they seem to be otherwise engaged.
If you're in Australia - PM me - I'd rather talk about it on the phone - lots of considerations. Happy to provide whatever assistance I can.
